Whitestone will referee QPR game
Northamptonshire referee Dean Whitestone will be the man with the whistle tomorrow when we come up against Queens Park Rangers at Turf Moor.
It will be his third Burnley game this season having previously refereed our 1-1 draw at Birmingham and more recently the FA Cup win against Fleetwood.
A Football League referee since 2005, he’s not always the busiest when it comes to using his cards. In his ten Burnley games to date, five of those have seen none of our players carded and this season overall he’s averaging around three cards per game.
He’s refereed 32 games so far this season with 24 of those in the Championship, four in League One, two in League Two with two FA Cup ties. In those games there have been 94 yellow and three red cards. Of the yellows, 41 have gone to home team players with 53 to away team players.
None of his red cards have been in Championship games. He sent off Portsmouth’s Marlon Pack in their 3-0 League One loss at Portsmouth and Sheffield United’s Daniel Jebbison was dismissed in their 3-3 FA Cup draw at Wrexham. His most recent red was at Turf Moor; it was the sending off of Fleetwood’s Cian Hayes in our 1-0 FA Cup win against them.
Whitestone’s most recent game was Tuesday of this week at Millwall where Birmingham beat the home side 1-0 with a Lukas Jutkiewicz goal. Birmingham saw both Krystian Bielik and former Claret Kevin Long yellow carded.
Fourth official tomorrow is Geoff Eltringham. It’s just over seven years since he last refereed a Burnley game, our 0-0 home draw against Cardiff at the beginning of April 2016.
