Wood in contention for Southampton
Chris Wood came off with a hamstring injury a week last Saturday in the 3-0 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium and subsequently missed Monday’s 1-0 win against Newcastle United on the Turf.
But there is some good news for the New Zealand international striker; he’s back in contention for Saturday’s game at Southampton.
At today’s pre-match press conference, manager Sean Dyche confirmed that he had trained today and said: “Woody has got a chance for Saturday. We’ll make a decision tomorrow.”
Steven Defour came off in the Newcastle game with just under a quarter of an hour remaining, a couple of minutes after Jeff Hendrick had scored the winner. Dyche said: “Defour has looked good on recovery today.”
