Chris Wood came off injured last week at Southampton just after the Saints had equalised in a game that ended in a 2-1 win for the Clarets, and Sean Dyche has confirmed that he has a chance of being fit for the home game against Southampton’s south coast neighbours Bournemouth in two days time.

Wood is rated touch and go with a couple of niggles but thankfully the hamstring problem was not a serious one and he could still make it for Saturday. Two players who won’t are Matt Lowton and Ashley Barnes. Dyche said neither of them are fit but Barnes is back on the grass working with the physios.

More positively, Jόhann Berg Guðmundsson is fit and will be in the squad, presumably taking up a place on the bench. Dyche also took the opportunity again to comment on Matej Vydra. He said he’d got a good bit of game time and he’d been pleased with his performance in which he scored a fantastic goal.
