1718 burnley chris wood 01 1000x500Burnley’s recent injury crisis is easing somewhat but it could be just Chris Wood and Phil Bardsley who are ready to play when we return to action this week with a home game against Southampton.

Wood has been out injured since clashing with Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris almost nine weeks ago and has missed the last eight league games. He will rejoin the squad along with Stephen Ward, who was back on the bench at Swansea two weeks ago, whilst Phil Bardsley, injured in the home draw against Manchester City three weeks ago, is expected to be fit as well as Dean Marney who could, according to the manager, come back into contention.

Tom Heaton played alongside Wood and Marney in the behind closed doors game this week but he’s not likely to be ready yet. Dyche has suggested he will need several more games having just played for the first time since September.

He also confirmed that James Tarkowski is now back in full training but is unlikely to be fit for Saturday whilst Scott Arfield is a doubt with a tight calf.
