Work continues at Gawthorpe
We’re just a few weeks away from the end of 2016, a year that has seen dramatic change at Gawthorpe as work on the new training ground got underway in the early weeks.
By then we already had some new pitches on the far side where the youth team and development squad play their games, but the transformation has been dramatic since.
Floodlighting on the top pitch which can be seen on the approach from Burnley Road, two new Desso pitches in use just over the bridge and work well underway on creating a third which will also have under soil heating.
That’s all added to the new building which is no longer showing too much exterior change although the first layer of cladding has continued on the indoor training area since our last visit and the grass seems to have grown on the roof of the other half of the building.
It is scheduled for completion in the spring of next year with the club then set to be audited for EPPP Category 2 which will give us a much stronger league to play in at both youth and development squad level as well as giving the entire academy a boost.
Once the best training ground in the country, it fell way behind through a lack of any investment for years. It’s fantastic to see the change on every visit and we’ve added just a few more photographs to the Gawthorpe gallery which can be found within Redevelopment on the top menu.Share this page :
