1718 burnley jordan cropper 00 500x500Burnley have two games scheduled against Sheffield Wednesday in the next few days. The under-23 team travel there on Monday but tomorrow it is the turn of the youth team who will be looking to complete a double against the Owls.

They will be the first team we will have played twice in the U18 Professional Development League and the first meeting back in September ended in a 3-1 win for the Burnley courtesy of a hat trick from Jordan Cropper (pictured).

Ahead of that game, we were second with Wednesday third although they had a game in hand against us and were unbeaten with three wins and two draws from their first five games. They started really well, got one goal, could have had another, and it looked as though it was going to be a difficult morning for us, that was until Cropper stepped in with a first half hat trick.

It started a downward spiral for Wednesday, who, after that excellent unbeaten start, have now been beaten six times with only two wins and a few draws since that first defeat of the season at Gawthorpe.

They are currently third from bottom in the league with 19 points while Burnley sit third, one point behind Bolton, who went top two days ago, and Huddersfield. With ours the only game tomorrow, we would go top with a win.

The game is at Sheffield Wednesday’s Middlewood training ground, which is no more than a ten minute walk from Hillsborough, and kick off is 11 a.m.
