Burnley’s youth team make the long trip to London for tomorrow morning’s U18 Professional Development League fixture against Queens Park Rangers in what will be our last game against a team from the south group until we face Charlton Athletic next March.

1718 burnley michael fowler 00 500x500We go into the game in second place in the north group with ten points from three wins and a draw in our five games while our opponents are fifth in the south group having won two and lost three of their opening fixtures.

We’ve beaten Cardiff, Millwall and Colchester; QPR’s wins have both come away at Bolton and Crewe with home defeats against Sheffield Wednesday and Nottingham Forest and at Huddersfield, a club who are considering closing their academy.

Michael Fowler (pictured), who scored in our first three league games of the season, missed last week’s win against Colchester due to injury but he’s back in the reckoning this week and is in a squad of 15 who have travelled down for the game which kicks off at 10:30 a.m.

Again, with an u23 game on Monday, some of the players have remained back at Burnley in preparation for that game. Oliver Younger, Scott Wilson and Richard Taylor are in that group as is Sam Layton who has been with us for over a year but is still waiting to make his competitive debut due to the red tape called international clearance. Today’s news suggests that may have finally come through.

Tomorrow, Danny Cadamarteri will select from: Adam Bruce, Marcel Wusiewicz, Dan Moss, James Clarke, Kwasinkosi Mpofu, Ethan Kershaw, Kian Yari, Terry Mupariwa, Akim Samms, Dylon Meredith, Leighton Egan, Tristan Jumeau, Dwight McNeil, Jordan Cropper, Michael Fowler.
