1718 burnley kian yari 00 500x500In recent seasons the furthest the youth team have had to travel for a league game has been Walsall, but in the new league we’ve already been to Cardiff and tomorrow make the long journey to Suffolk to face Ipswich Town.

Burnley go into the game having recovered from the losing start at home to Watford. Since that opening day defeat we’ve won 2-1 at Cardiff with goals from Michael Fowler and Kian Yari (pictured) and last week beat Millwall 1-0 at home with Fowler again on the scoresheet. It has taken our points total to six points, just one behind Sheffield Wednesday, the current leaders in our group.

Ipswich have not had things quite so good so far. They’ve played twice and in both games have suffered 6-1 defeats, the first at home to Nottingham Forest and then, last week, at Bolton.

Although no team news has been confirmed, it is likely that some of the second year scholars could be left out again with the under-23s in action next week against Preston in the Lancashire Senior Cup.

The two coaches tomorrow will be familiar to each other when Danny Cadamarteri comes up against former Huddersfield team mate and ex-Claret Alan Lee who has just kicked off his second season as the youth team coach at Huddersfield.

If you are in the Ipswich area tomorrow, the game kicks off at 11 a.m. and will be played at the Ipswich Town Training Centre, Playford Road. The postcode is IP4 5RQ.
