Young under-18 team go down to defeat at City
Manchester City have beaten us 2-0 this afternoon in the U18 Premier League side on a day when, in one of the most difficult games of the season, we fielded probably the youngest team of the season.
Tremaine Eastmond, who has rarely featured since signing in the summer of 2019 because of injury, was the only second year scholar on view with under-15 Joe Bauress again starting and fellow under-15 player Ryan Tioffo on the bench.
We fell behind to a goal scored by Norwegian Oscar Bobb after just nine minutes, the only goal of the first half that saw City reduced to ten men eight minutes before the break when Tai Sodje was dismissed for a foul on Keelan Williams.
They added a second on 68 minutes, scored by Carlos Borges, a Portuguese left winger who joined City this summer. We were unable to get back into the game and this is only the third time this season we’ve failed to score a goal in a league game.
The game was played one of the pitches at the Etihad Campus and not in the Academy Stadium as previously reported.
The teams were;
Manchester City: Mikki van Sas, Kwaku Oduroh, CJ Egan-Riley, Juan Larios, Harvey Griffiths, Jadel Katnongo, Oscar Bobb, Darko Gyabi, Tai Sodje, Micah Hamilton, Carlos Borges. Subs not used: Josh McNamara, Shea Charles, Josh Adam, Liam Smith, Kian Breckin.
Burnley: Sam Waller, Keelan Williams (Jacson Coppack 40), Dan Sassi, Benn Ward, Dane McCullough, Kade Ratchford, Will Hugill, Joe Bauress, Ruairi Behan, Tremaine Eastmond (Ryan Tioffo 72), Joe Smyth-Ferguson (George Walters 33). Subs not used: Charlie Casper, Jack Leckie.Share this page :
