Youth Alliance becomes a top draw
Port Vale beat Preston in the Youth Alliance League last Saturday and were the only team to win with the other five games all drawn, leaving little change at the top of the table.
Wigan, Walsall and Bury were all held to draws, Bury’s coming at fourth place Tranmere, which leaves Wigan still four points clear at the top with Walsall, Bury and Tranmere, who won last Tuesday, now all together on 37 points although Bury have three games in hand on the other two which should see them pull clear into second place.
The biggest surprise was Morecambe’s creditable draw against Walsall. Once again they are struggling at the bottom of the league and this was just their eighth point in twenty games. We sit next to them in the league but have a nine point advantage although we are now five points behind the next club.
We are in action twice this week. Tomorrow afternoon we travel to Lytham Cricket Club to face Fleetwood and on Saturday we are at Carrington where we will face Bury who are still hoping to retain the title they won last season.
All the results from last week are below along with this week’s fixtures, Burnley’s goalscorers and the current league table.
