Beaten at Sheffield Wednesday three days ago, the youth team are playing again this afternoon with the three times rescheduled home game against Barnsley.

We’ve now slipped to fourth in the table with today’s opponents Barnsley having moved ahead of us and now gone five points clear with a game in hand. Although it is a difficult task for them, the Tykes will have one eye on South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield United as they look to get into second place.

This fixture has ended with a draw and a win in the previous two seasons. A Tristan Jumeau goal earned us a point in a 1-1 draw two seasons ago while we won it 3-2 last season with goals from Ne-Jai Tucker, Mitch George (pictured) from the penalty spot with the winner coming from Matt O’Neill.

Kick off today is 1:30 p.m. at Gawthorpe but the club have revealed this morning that the game will be played behind closed doors with no admission to the general public.
