1718 burnley michael fowler 00 500x500Michael Fowler has started the season in terrific form for the youth team, scoring five goals in the first four games, but he won’t be involved this Saturday against Ipswich Town having joined Padiham on work experience.

The 17-year-old former Sunderland academy striker had a stop/start first season at Burnley. He started and ended the 2017/18 season well but missed a large chunk of it due to requiring knee surgery but there were hints of what was to come when he returned to the side and scored five times in the last two games of the season.

He notched a hat trick against Hull and added a brace against Bristol City and, added to this season’s goals, it means he’s scored ten goals in the last six U18 Professional Development League games.

That’s encouraged Padiham to take him for their North West Counties Premier Division team. They are currently ninth in the table having both won and lost three games.

Fowler could make his Padiham debut this Saturday when they play West Didsbury & Chorlton at home.

It will be fantastic experience for him but undoubtedly he’ll be missed at youth team level at Burnley having led the team to such a good start this season.
