Youth team go in search of final place
The under-18s take a break from league action tonight when we face Blackpool at home in the semi-final of the Lancashire Youth Cup.
To reach the semi-final, we’ve beaten Blackpool’s close neighbours Fleetwood and their fierce rivals Preston. Goals from Joe Bauress, Michael Mellon and Sean Etaluku gave us a comfortable 3-0 victory against Fleetwood back in September at Gawthorpe but it took a penalty shoot out for us to win at Preston in the quarter-final after the game had ended 0-0 with that tie played in November.
Our opponents Blackpool received a bye in the first round but beat Bolton 4-1 in their quarter-final, also played in November.
The winners tonight already know their final opponents. The other semi-final was played in early February with Rochdale winning through with a 3-1 victory against Wigan.
Tonight’s game will be played at the County Ground at Leyland and kicks off at 7 p.m.
