Burnley’s under-18s have beaten Crewe Alexandra 3-0 this afternoon in the U18 Professional Development League Cup, a game postponed recently due to the pitch at Crewe not being fit.

Having beaten first Bradford City and then Birmingham, the other two teams in our group, we knew that a draw would be enough but we went one better with Murray Campbell, Zach Johnson and Rohan Vaughan (pictured), who is on his way back from injury, all scoring.

With maximum points, we are the team going through to the knockout stage, joining Millwall, Swansea, Watford and Oxford who were already assured a place in the last eight.

Fleetwood are the favourites to go through in their group with Wigan also in with a chance. They are still to play each other with Wigan needing a two goal win to end their group games at the top.

The one remaining place is between Sheffield United and Mansfield. Should Mansfield beat Hull in their final game, they will go through. Otherwise it will the Sheffield United.

Today’s game at Crewe was not covered by Burnley so we aren’t aware of the line-up.
