Youth team set for return to league action
Our under-18s are back in league action for the first time in three weeks tomorrow with a trip to take on a much improved Bolton team who have climbed off the bottom of the league with two recent wins in their last three games.
Although we’ve had success with a win in the FA Youth Cup at Mansfield, the only league game we’ve played in 2020 ended in a 3-2 win at Barnsley on 4th January. That win took us up to third in the table and, despite not having played, that’s where we remain although we are now a long, long way from the top two.
We are sat on 26 points but that is a massive ten points behind Sheffield United in third place; they won twice last week against Leeds, who are now at the bottom, and then a big 4-0 victory in the derby against Sheffield Wednesday. Wigan are even further away, a lead of five points on the Blades. Both of those teams above us have played just one game more.
Bolton away is a fixture in which we’ve had no problems in scoring goals. Two seasons ago we won the game 4-1. Dan Moss, who has just signed an extended deal with Millwall, scored the first with Craig Ellison getting the second followed by two for Marley Blair.
Last season it was 4-3. Dylon Meredith opened the scoring and this time there was a brace for Michael Fowler with Mitch George (pictured) also on the scoresheet.
We kick off tomorrow at the Eddie Davies Academy at 11 a.m.
