Youths beaten in opening cup game
In temperatures soaring into the 30s and against a Palmeiras team who won the competition last year, our under-18s were beaten 3-0 in their opening encounter in the CEE Cup.
The Burnley team included a number of first year scholars and they found themselves up against a team including Brazilian under-19 internationals who proved too strong and too experienced for them.
Fabricio, one of the internationals, scored the opener in the first half and he added a second after the break before Gustavo scored a late penalty. We ended the game with ten players after Corey Brennan received two yellow cards.
The next game is tomorrow at the same time against Altinordu FK with the game again to be streamed on YouTube.
The Burnley team was: Harry Allen, Kane Patterson, Udoka Chima, Edon Pruti, Finlay Armstrong, Murray (Ben Woods 70),Ne-Jai Tucker, Corey Brennan, Joel Connolly, Joe McGlynn, Jayden Major.Share this page :
