Youths look to continue good form at Crewe
After a difficult end to 2018 which saw us lose four of our last league games along with going out of the FA Youth Cup at the first time of asking, the under-18s have started 2019 well under the management of former striker Tony Philliskirk.
We started the year with a tough game against then leaders Sheffield Wednesday and earned ourselves a 2-2 draw with both goals scored by captain Michael Fowler (pictured). He scored a brace too in the last game two weeks ago when we beat Bolton 4-3; the other goals came from Dylon Meredith and Mitch George.
Tomorrow’s game against Crewe will see us looking to complete a double over them having won the home game back in November 6-1. That was a memorable day for under-16 striker Lewis Richardson. He got his first start at under-18 level and scored five of the six goals; the other was scored by Cricky Conn-Clarke.
We go into the game in fourth place and no matter what the result might be we will remain fourth. Sheffield Wednesday, now third, are four points clear of us while we are five points ahead of Sheffield United who occupy fifth place although they do have three games in hand.
Last season’s away game against Crewe was very definitely one to forget. After a good start to the season, we’d hit a sticky patch in October and November and this was a fourth successive defeat. We lost the game 5-1 with our goal scored by Bobby Thomas.Share this page :
