Youths straight to semi-finals in County Cup
Two days ago, in the torrential rain at Gawthorpe, the Clarets’ under-18s won their first round tie in the Lancashire Senior Cup, beating Oldham Athletic 4-1 with a Mitch George hat trick and a goal from Rhys Fenlon.
With that result, we joined Fleetwood in the quarter-finals; they’d beaten Preston in a penalty shot out with the winners of Blackpool and Bolton to determine the third team through who would join the teams who had received byes in the first round.
That, however, has left just seven teams to play with presumably Bury the other team to have originally joined the competition for 2019/20 season and that’s left us with a bye and a passage through to the semi-finals.
