Youths suffer cup exit
On what was a poor night for our under-18s, we went out of the FA Youth Cup at the first hurdle, going down 1-0 against AFC Wimbledon at Plough Lane.
It was a thoroughly disappointing night for the young Clarets who, despite missing a string of players, were expected to go through. On a night when neither team offered very much at all, we only forced their goalkeeper into one save.
The winning goal came when two Wimbledon substitutes combined with Paris Lock finishing at the far post, a goal that left their embarrassing first team coach Rob Tuvey ranting for all of us watching on YouTube.
All in all, a very disappointing night for the young Clarets who will now return to league action tomorrow afternoon with a home game against Newcastle.
Our team was: Sam Waller, Keelan Williams (Jacob Hamilton 83), Dan Sassi, Calen Gallagher-Allision, Matty Carson (Jacson Coppack 70), Dara Costelloe, Will Hugill, Dylan Moonan (Kade Ratchford 79), Finlay Armstrong, Sam Unwin, Michael Mellon. Subs not used: Charlie Casper, Dane McCullough, Tremaine Eastmond, Will Couch.
