Youths suffer first defeat of the season
The under-18s couldn’t add to the four points picked up in the win at Newcastle and last Saturday’s home draw against Middlesbrough when we travelled north east again and were beaten 2-0 by Sunderland with the home side scoring twice in four minutes with less than a quarter of an hour remaining.
Tony Philliskirk made two changes from the team that had played last week with Benn Ward and George Walters (pictured) coming in for a trialist and Michael Mellon who played for the under-23s last night.
A 0-0 draw was beginning to look likely but Ben Williams gave Sunderland the lead on 75 minutes with Caden Kelly adding a second to give Sunderland victory.
The teams were;
Sunderland: Harrison Bond, Ben Williams, Oliver Bainbridge, Henry Fieldson, Zak Johnson, Marshall Burke (Will Cain 90), Will Dowling (Ben Middlemass 74), Sonny Singh (Harrison Jones 66), Joseph Ryder, Harry Gardiner, Caden Kelly. Sub not used: Dan Cameron.
Burnley: Harry Moss, Keelan Williams, Dan Sassi, Jack Leckie, Dane McCullough, Sean Etaluku (Joe Westley 82), Benn Ward, Joe Bauress (Jacson Coppack 68), George Walters (Ruairi Behan 68), Will Couch, Tremain Eastmond (Nathan James 61). Subs not used: Charlie Casper, Nathan James.Share this page :
