1920 burnley edon pruti 00 500x500Two weeks ago things seemed to be going well for the under-18s. We were in a good run of form and looking to push up towards the top teams in the league with our games in hand.

However, successive defeats against the two Sheffield clubs have somewhat derailed that and we now go into tomorrow’s home game against Nottingham Forest down in sixth place having been overtaken last Saturday by Hull.

We’ve still got games in hand but our record now shows our position right in the middle of the table is about right. We’ve won five and lost five of our eleven games and we’ve both scored and conceded 18 goals.

We will go back above Hull tomorrow with any sort of positive result tomorrow. They have no game and even a draw would take us above them on  goal difference, but we are very much in need of a win to start closing the gap on the teams above us and that includes Forest who are in third place and now have seven points more than us although we do have three games in hand.

This is a home fixture we are still to win with Forest here for the third time in the U18 Professional Development League. Two seasons ago it ended in a 4-4 draw. Will Harris scored our last two goals with those earlier coming from Sam Layton and James Clarke. Last season’s home game against them ended in a 3-1 defeat with our goal scored by Edon Pruti (pictured).

Please note that kick off tomorrow at Gawthorpe is 12 noon rather than the usual 11 a.m.
