Initial fee close to £2m! Great business if true.

Re: Tendayi Darikwa leaves Turf Moor
Think its a good move. The lad has bags of potential, but he was never going to realise it at Burnley sat in the reserves with little chance to break through. He needs to cut his teeth and make his mistakes at a more forgiving level. Hopefully Forest can provide that.

Seems some uncertainty regarding fee. Boden says 1m, Tyrone Marshall (LT reporter) says nearer 2m. Pretty sure it will be nearer 1m.

It's an initial fee of around £2 million with the usual add ons

The board have done well, even in todays market. Hopefully one of the clauses is a buy back given how highly SD prised his potential.ClaretTony wrote:Ha ha

Goes some way to paying us back for the time we wasted dealing with Forest on a Lansbury deal.

Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
That is a ridiculous sum of money for a player who is not Championship standard in my opinion.
Darikwa only ever looked good when hecwas using his pace to go and tackle back the winger he had generally just lost the ball to.
Good luck to him, a superb deal for Burnley and Darikwa, a seriously poor one for Forest.

So we sell Darikwa and bring in Bardsley and have put a bit more money in the bank. Great business!

Good deal all round, we get a much better right back as cover and make a tidy profit on a player who was nowhere near the required level.
Cheers Forest. Suckers.

Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Cover? I fully expect Bardsley to be our first choice RB at his earliest opportunity. We may have to wait for an injury or suspension to lowton (who ended up having a decent season) or maybe just a cup outing for Bardsley, but I really do expect him to be starting regularly sooner rather than later. I just think he's the better RB. But I suppose that doesn't matter. It's what SD has planned for him that does, and that'll do for me.
I don't imagine for one minute though he's come here to sit on our bench.

Fancy Darikwa will come good with time, many of the attribute an attacking full back needs.

I always liked Darikwa and felt he didn't really get a fair chance ,especially when Matt Lowton was putting in some shaky performances.
I hope he does well at Forest.

Not so sure about that, I thought Lowton was excellent second half of last season after a shaky start, Bardsley is going to have to wait his turn. From what I've seen of him he's certainly no world beater.

I find it funny that on a Forest forum quite a few are saying what a good signing (excellent for Burnley early on, one says) and one that they need.
How would they know?

Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Good luck to the lad. He had promise going forward, although not quite the end product of Trippier. But needs to improve at defending, perhaps playing on a regular basis will improve him. Good deal for me.
Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
After an promising looking start, he rapidly stagnated. Defensively he was lacking, barring his uncanny ability to get back for clearances (sometimes needed as a result of his own errors). Offensively he started off well but this disappeared from his game, his crossing was poor and his forays left him out of position.
There's a half decent player in there but he's going to need to learn a lot, and quickly, to be good enough for the Championship.

Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
This is a good move for him. He needs to be playing and he wasn't quite up to the level we need.
This is exactly what we should be doing. Buying players of the likes of Darikwa/Pope/andre and hoping one or two step up (like Andre) and if they aren't quite good enough, that we develop them enough to get a return on them. We have to do this alongside bringing in players that we know can perform at this level consistently AND are within our budget (players like Cork/Bardsley/walters).
£2 Million doesn't mean we've ripped off Forest. That's just the market. We're performing comparatively well/sensibly (both buying and selling) within a ridiculous market.

We won't have got 2m for him.
Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Thought he was a real weak link when he played during our promotion season.
Regularly caught out of position at the back post and seemed to switch off all too often.
Ok with the ball at his feet and has good pace; but his delivery from deep was very poor and he seemed reluctant to even try, perhaps he would be a little more suited to a more attacking team where he can get higher up the pitch to deliver crosses, but I'd be amazed if he ever finds his way back into the premier league.

Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Thought Darikwa was excellent when he first came into the team. Remember him gettin a few MOTM awards early. He was exciting going forward and created a few goals including the one for Vokes at Leeds. Lowton was lucky to get his place when he got fit. Darikwa had been excellent up to that point. Defensively he made a few errors but had pace to recover and it's not like Lowton has not made a few errors defensively in his time. Think he will be fine in the championship and good luck to him. Shame he did not get more of a chance at Burnley but the side got promoted and premier league was too much too soon for him. Seems like a good guy.

Best of luck to him. Pretty happy with the reported fee and the signing of Bardsley as his replacement. Still plenty more work to be done this transfer window though (I hope!).

Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Good we are clearing the decks, there is no point having people on the books who are never going to play, hopefully Ulvstead will be next out of the door, and Chris Long also. Darikwa has potential, but we need players for the here and now not tomorrow, amazed we have essentially swapped Darikwa for Bardsley and come out breaking even.

Never let us down. Good player who had more good attributes than bad. Shows how far we have come (and how little our fans have changed) when a player like Darikwa gets slaughtered.
Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
I'm amazed at the fee. He's terrible.
Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Don't rate him at all and amazed Dyche stuck with him as long as he did in the promotion season. I'd say he's about a lower-end Championship right back, at best.
If we really have got £2 million for him then that's an incredible deal.

Can't agree with the comment about him being unlucky to lose his place to lowton. Fans had been crying out for Lowton to start a game for weeks prior to his actual inclusion.
Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Good luck to him. Seems a good professional but needs games now to further his career. Shame he doesn't seemed to have pushed on and improved after some glimpses of early promise.

Re: ARTICLE: Darikwa joins Tricky Trees
Good luck to the lad, put a corker on the head of Vokes at Leeds. Defensively woeful, you could tell he was a poor lower division wide man turned right back. The cup game at Arsenal sealed his fate..... Pathetic.

That not getting a fair chance was 21 consecutive league games when his performances deteriorated considerably. He had to be left out after his last game at Middlesbrough and he could have been left out much earlier.Woodleyclaret wrote:I always liked Darikwa and felt he didn't really get a fair chance ,especially when Matt Lowton was putting in some shaky performances.

He couldn't defend very well. He was playing at right back. That's his downfall at the moment, but good luck to him!
