ARTICLE: Burnley crash out of cup at Leeds

Not the sort of headline you want on a Sunday morning but things were no different to now back in 1972 - we started the league season well but went straight out of the League Cup, and at a time when the Queen Mother was living in Burnley.

I went to this game. The only thing I remember was the away following chanting at Jack Charlton, who had come up to the Scratching Shed end for a corner, Charlton's a wan..r

I remember going to this game. Just as the report suggests I was pleased to be at 0-0 at half time but once the early goal in the second half was scored there was only one team in it. Interesting to note that both teams played their best 11 and the Leeds line up had the majority of that 11 for what seemed a very long time to come.

They were a hell of a good side weren’t they? Once you’d dared to go behind against them you could be in trouble as happened here.

Whatever their reputation, and it was fully justified, they had some outstanding talent.
