ARTICLE: Nick Pope wins the first Beeky
I'm absolutely delighted to report this news on behalf of Burnley FC Supporters Groups - I've known for seven months that this was going to happen but until now we've all had to keep our lips sealed.

A great way to remember a great bloke. Is the trophy in the shape of a bloody big hat?

Wow how wonderful. Didn't know Beeky but that decision clearly reflects the standing of the man and his loss to family friends and acquaintances. Well done to all involved.

Re: ARTICLE: Nick Pope wins the first Beeky
We had our committee meeting at the beginning of Feb and I put it forward. It took all of a few seconds to get unanimous agreement. No big hat on the trophy. I've only seen sketches but it's a modern design and all I can say for now is that it will be made of stainless steel and glass on a granite base.
You will all get to see it just as soon as it has been made and we have receipt of it.

Great idea to name the award after a fan and one who seemed so deserving.

A great idea. Perhaps the winner should write their name on it in permanent marker.

Anyone spot Beeky on BBC last night, he appeared briefly during the piece on our signing of Ian Wright.

Missed it as half time conveniently coincided with kid's bedtime. Got a message he'd been on and rewound it though.

I wondered whether anyone else had spotted it. I was stunned when he appeared to be honest, really strange when you see an old friend like that. Unfortunately it is very unlikely his wife saw it given she's not into football.
The Beeky is coming on well I'm told - next teaser pic though will probably come just before we can reveal the whole trophy.

Still talking crap though.
I still miss the early morning phone calls, and I mean early. Usually would start with: “You’re not still in bed are you?” and at a time when most sensible people were still in bed.

I can imagine it, no hello or good morning, straight into it. Around October/November last year, my step father and my step brother went to visit Beeky. His opening gambit to my brother as he walked in the door was "You've not come here to borrow money have you?"ClaretTony wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 2:06 pmStill talking crap though.

No, why do you say that?
"Well you walk into my house with holes in your jeans, i can only presume you're a bit hard up and need to borrow a few quid for some new jeans".

I can hear him saying it. One thing, his sense of humour remained with him right until the end.Herts Clarets wrote: ↑Thu Sep 24, 2020 3:08 pmI can imagine it, no hello or good morning, straight into it.
