Re: Game v united
I gathered that tbh, it's just a peeve of mine that they get "United" when there are 15ish other teams in the top 4 divsions alone with United in their name

Re: Game v united
What is in it for us? We don't have many fringe players and I'm guessing we'll be up against the likes of Varane & Sancho.
Seems like this benefits united more, unless it is purely fitness.

Re: Game v united
From the pictures I have gathered the starting line up for Burnley is
Hennessy
Bardsley, Collins, Thomas, Pieters
Lennon, Westwood (i think), Mancini, Glennon
Barnes, Vydra

Re: Game v united
I sometimes think that some on here react like that regularly getting home after the match
Re: Game v united
Don’t think it’s Westwood but possibly the lad who signed from United as he didn’t play in the 23s last night.

Re: Game v united
Is the ref Rob Jones?
Re: Game v united
Yeah, think it'll be Helm instead of Westwood but otherwise that looks to be correct.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 12:41 pmFrom the pictures I have gathered the starting line up for Burnley is

Rumoured full time score of 3-1 with Fred getting their other goal. Nothing found on our scorer.

Definitely 7 and wasn’t 17 (the number is too central for a 1 to have been alongside it)burnleytom wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 2:55 pmhttps://imgur.com/a/fohl28O

Re: Game v united
Anyone think that these behind-closed-door friendlies are going to be much more common?
With squads really bound by Covid, this would allow good competition/game time for the squad players.
when I look at that proposed ManU squad, that squad would definitely compete in the PL.
I'm all for these friendlies. It gives our youngsters a chance to play against quality opponents, keeps our squad players match fit.

Re: Game v united
It's nothing new, they happen often, but info doesn't usually get out. If we wanted to keep things quiet then we probably shouldn't have played United at Old Trafford.AshevilleNCClaret wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 3:03 pmAnyone think that these behind-closed-door friendlies are going to be much more common?

Burnley: Hennessey (Heaton); Bardsley, Collins.

Re: Game v united
On a side note, Barnes got 90 minutes, and Vydra only 55. However, Barnes was brought on ahead of Vydra on Saturday, and one of the reasons was that Vydra was 'behind the curve' in terms of fitness. Seems a strange way round to do it, in that case.

Re: Game v united
I'm assuming you mean the club's website, if so they must have corrected it.
I was writing something for this site but took a phone call and when I got back our club had reported the game so I had to make some quick changes.

Fingers crossed that was because the instruction Stone had was to take him off then as he'll be starting against Liverpool and doesn't want him playing a full 90 today.burnleytom wrote: ↑Tue Aug 17, 2021 3:30 pmOn a side note, Barnes got 90 minutes, and Vydra only 55. Sounds like a very useful outing, even if we did lose 3-1. Sean Dyche noticeably absent. Perhaps he was in France cooking an omlette?
