Excellent news. A future pairing of Thomas Collins could prove the perfect cocktail!

Re: ARTICLE: New deal for Bobby Thomas
Not seen anything of this lad, but he certainly looks a big strong presence, do we have high hopes for this lad?
I know a few on here take a good interest in the U23, just wonder if he could come through the ranks?

I remarked to my mate the other week what a big unit this lad is.
He will take some knocking off the ball that's for sure, and though it was only in a friendly he might just have an eye for goal.
You can never have too many goals from your defenders.

Re: ARTICLE: New deal for Bobby Thomas
He was in the youth team and just under three years ago went out to Kendal on loan.
Maybe he had some good luck when he came back in that there were injury problems defensively in the u23s and he played there and how he grabbed his chance.
He continued to look good initially in 2019/20 and then I saw came his performance at Millwall in the League Cup. It was an exceptional debut.
He seemed to win huge praise at Barrow and we obviously think highly of him to offer him a three year deal.

Surely he will go out on loan again? Does the EFL loan window open soon? League 1 hopefully.

He wanted to go out on loan but wasn’t allowed
Re: ARTICLE: New deal for Bobby Thomas
looks a talent
Re: ARTICLE: New deal for Bobby Thomas
Looked the standout defender in the U23s and a much better prospect than Dunne (who is off to a good start at QPR in the Championship) when they played alongside each other at Millwall. I really think he's got it in him to be a regular for us.

Re: ARTICLE: New deal for Bobby Thomas
The club clearly have plenty of faith in Bobby, hence the 3 year deal.
And assuming Tarks does leave next summer, he could well find himself moving up the pecking order.
Will he get a game against Rochdale I wonder, he should be well suited to handling League 2 opposition given his stints in the lower leagues, and If Collins & Long are ruled out of contention, I can't see both Mee and Tarks starting in the cup.

Really pleased with this. Congratulations, Bobby!
Re: ARTICLE: New deal for Bobby Thomas
Well done, Bobby! Very difficult getting a three-year deal at his age. The people best placed to judge him rate him and giving the lad a long contract ("long" given his situation) means the lad's mind should be settled and he can fully concentrate on learning his trade. If we do believe in young lads we need to get them on relatively long deals given the whole "out of contact" business.

Well done
Will he play any 1st team football in that 3 years?

Re: ARTICLE: New deal for Bobby Thomas
He went to Barrow for the second half of last season and they were really struggling down at the bottom. I believe he had a couple of ropey games to start with, including making a real howler which cost them a game. The fans weren't initially impressed and made it known, but it says a lot about him that he fought back, made the shirt his own and apparently put in some superb performances taking Barrow to safety. Those same fans were desperate for him to stay permanently by the end of the season.
