Good report but it was not Branthwaite who ‘won’ the second pen it was the Russian guy !
Like the digs at Prickford but saying he hoofed the ball into the crowd was being a bit kind when in fact it was an awful sliced attempt at a clearance

I’ll tell you what made last night special. Because you knew there was no chance our 2nd and 3rd goals were going to fall victim to the VAR.

I’d say these days there’s only maybe a third of goals scored that you can properly celebrate.

Really excellent report - enjoyed reading.

I haven't seen celebrations in the stand like that for a while. Raw emotion.

Great report - Maxwel’s silver hammer!
Has Tarkowski ever played better, I doubt it.

Yes good. i read one comment that made me laugh. It read: 'Mike Dean played very well for Everton but his team mates couldn't capitalize on it!!!'

Good point. Said exactly the same to my son and daughter on the way home. When I'd finally calmed down at home( courtesy of a large brandy) I looked at the 'Everton mad forum' and how they followed the game. Two players were scapegoats last night and they were Calvert -Lewin and Jon Joe Kenny. Interestingly, there was a feeling that Keane had one of his better games.

I thought Anthony Gordon was by far Everton's best player last night and was really happy when hapless Frank decided to take him off.

I thought Everton had two players: Gordon, who was very good and Richarlison, who was outstanding, regardless of his penalties. His strength and ball carrying terrified us: he carried his whole team in large spells.

Well written report, quick question - how many teams in the Premiership have been awarded two penalties in a match?
Debateable second penalty definitely not a clear and obvious error by Mike Dean.

So many positives that there was no need to mention Evertons time wasting from minute 1.

The 5 Everton players sitting down at the final whistle also told us something about their attitude and belief.

Great report!

Agree with the sentiment about the second penalty .

The association between VAR and the principle of Clear and Obvious was unfortunately locked away in a box by the PL officials as soon as VAR came into operation.

Lots and usually Celtic and Rangers tend to hog the spot kicks up here.

Why do our fans still insist on calling the PL the Premiership, you'd hope after 6 years at this level we'd know the name of the league by now.

We got two pens at Hull in 2009/10 and last season Leicester got three at Man City.

But at half time yesterday on Sky they said it was the first time in Premier League history that a team had scored two in the first half of a game.

good read, I think the charlie taylor move was exceptional , that sudden change and burst away was extra special to see. Brilliant football.More so because it led to a goal.
Tough being a fan, one second its gut wrenching, then it swiftly turns to ecstasy.
Some powerful displays by our players, and a hard fought win and three vital points.UTC.

Good read that, CT.
Fair point in there too. One I made to my neighbour who'd joined me in the pub to watch the match.
We played a better over at Goodison and lost.

I think one thing I've realised after watching our second goal (numerous times! 😁) is what a great "assist" from Mike Dean. Tarks is being clearly fouled and most refs would have blown. Dean doesn't and waits a couple of seconds to see if he'd can let it go and not stop the game. Tarks stays on his feet, plays the ball to Taylor and the rest is ....... Well done Dean (imo)

That's one of the main reasons why I believe he's our best referee - he gives the game the chance to be played. Just by giving himself those couple of seconds allows him to see advantages.

He played a few other advantages (for both teams). One in the second half in particular after Everton were flagged offside in our left back area but we'd won the ball and were looking to go forward so played the advantage. Good refereeing.
