Boro at home for me.
We all know which game will win it but I have gone for a win against a decent side. An easy win against a gutless performance by the opposition will win this vote though.

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Looking back, some stunning home performances.
Middlesbrough - the only points they dropped in a run of eight games. We gave them a soft goal and then won easily. (This was my choice).
West Brom - arrived on the back of nine wins in ten, again we fell behind but won with that late Twine free kick and fully deserved the win.
Preston - I missed this one but apparently, while another team hardly touched the ball, they virtually didn't.
And many more - in real terms it should be close.

I went for Swansea. They were the in-form team in the league and we destroyed them. The wing play from Tella and Zaroury in particular stands out. It was intense, controlling and exciting - just like Man City when they are at their best.

Has to be only one really as Rovers were blown away
Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Tough choice as so many good performances. Agree with Tony’s shortlist above but Blackburn will probably win it. We just looked in a different league to them.

I've gone for Rotherham because they actually gave us a competitive game and we still won. And nothing beats a 100th minute winner against a team of time wasters!

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Rovers will win, but there are loads of great shouts - Rotherham, Swansea, Boro. I have to say I'd probably go for PNE - maybe it's just because of the derby history or the fact they are the archetypal Championship team (the type we were supposed to struggle against I guess) and they were in decent, solid form. We absolutely destroyed them from minute one, proper men against boys stuff. There were lots of 'wow' moments this season, and walking off from that game was definitely one of them.

Everyone will say Rovers but for me Rotherham fought till the end and got the deserved winner in fergie time as Rotherham time wasted .

Cup win against Crawley for me. Banana skins like these can really disrupt your season and after going 1-0 I thought we did brilliantly to keep our composure and win quite comfortably in the end

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
All good shouts so far!
I will add, Huddersfield though poor we absolutely battered them without getting out of first gear nevermind 2nd!
Very hard to look past Blackburn mind but Swansea probably is possibly the 'best' performance considering the form of the opposition and the manner in which we did it.

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
The Rovers game will win and deservedly so. Let’s not forget they were just behind us at the time and would have gone top had they won. Plus we’d just come off the back of a big defeat against a promotion rival which brought to an end a long unbeaten run. The fact that they barely had a touch and we looked so comfortable made this the moment when I thought this was a team that’s going up.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 10:14 amRovers will win, but there are loads of great shouts - Rotherham, Swansea, Boro. Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Swansea for me, as others have said. It was an early indication of our total domination in many games, almost the complete performance. They came into that game full of confidence and we destroyed them.
Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Rovers was nowhere near our best performance. They didn't turn up which made it a lot easier for us but we really struggled to create anything until we scored the goal.
Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Blackburn game for me as we were so much better than them , yes we've beaten them before but never so easily.
It was a joy to hear silence from the away end in that second half.

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
I can't disagree with those that are voting for the Blackburn game but I have gone with the Swansea game.
It was the first time I thought it all came together and we showed how good we could be at our best. It helps that at the time I was expecting a tough game as much was made of their ability on the ball, but we absolutely destroyed them.

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
The problem is that with the Rovers game, and also Swansea and Preston and others, is that we were so much better than them that we can't assess whether it was because we were so good or they were so bad. Like Martin said above, Rovers would have gone top with a win - they didn't play like muppets because they were off form in general, so did they play like muppets because they had an off day, or did they play like muppets because we were far, far better than them?
Either way, I enjoy saying that Rovers played like muppets!

They’d won 5 out of their last 6 league games, they were a team in form.dsr wrote: ↑Mon May 22, 2023 12:59 pmThe problem is that with the Rovers game, and also Swansea and Preston and others, is that we were so much better than them that we can't assess whether it was because we were so good or they were so bad. Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
To be fair, favourite or best, you could make a case for the home game being against Rovers. For what it's worth, I voted for the Preston game.
Be interesting to see the voting for the best away performance though when we have that. There's no way the game at Ewood should be anywhere near winning that

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
I think there's a good argument for picking the Blackburn performance on merit, and not just because it was them.
As has been said, they were also going top with a win and we'd been battered the week before. Pressure, expectant crowd, Jay Rod injured.. there's a lot could have gone wrong there.
But yeah, the title win at Ewood was momentous but probably wouldn't be in a top 10 away performances.

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Best home performance's this season are a close call between Preston and Swansea. You could argue Middlesbrough as well.
Rovers was a great day but nowhere near our best performance

Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
Rotherham for me. The time wasting by them from the 1st minute, our never say die attitude, and a 100th minute winner. The noise when that winner went in was like when Blake scored against Man Utd and when Keane (I think it was) scored against Middlesbrough

I chose Blackburn but really wanted to pick Milwall no idea why other than it was Benson's first really electrifying performance.

I voted for Swansea because I think it was the game where our dominance became clearly apparent. The Blackburn game will undoubtedly win but I didn’t vote for it because I didn’t see it live (on holiday, bad timing I know).

Another for Swansea here. Confirmation for me that there might be something in the season for us.
Re: ARTICLE:Choose our best home performance of the season
The score line, the manner of the win, the opposition, the gloating rights.
Bastards by a country mile.

Us calling the win against the bastards the performance of the season gives them far too much credit. They were absolutely shite, and it was a stroll in the park for our lads.
Boro was a tougher game, and the win was excellent from a losing position.

Swansea for me. I think they started ok for 10 mins and then we blew them apart.
