We beat WBA 1-0 on 12th January 1957,which was the day after my birth. I was just 1 day old and cheering like hell when the goal went in. I watched it on Sky too

Re: What were the Clarets doing the year you came into the world?
Within about four hours of my birth we’d beaten Hartlepools United 1-0 in the FA Cup. A week later, our first league game with me on earth ended in a 2-0 win against Newcastle with Billy Morris and Tommy Cummings, with that special goal, on the scoresheet.
We reached the 6th round of the FA Cup that season but I’d prefer not to mention who knocked us out. We ended the season in 14th place in the first division.

I was just three hours and forty minutes old when in December 1958 we kicked off against Man City at Maine Road.
And at only five hours and twenty minutes old celebrated my first win, by 4-1!!

Re: What were the Clarets doing the year you came into the world?
17 Jan 76 we lost at home to Derby, I was born 8 days later, but for some reason we didn't have a fixture that weekend (cup maybe which we'd been knocked out of at Blackpool in round 3), however we did win at Goodison on the 31st, so it wasn't all bad, the less said about the end of the season the better though as we were relegated from the top flight.

I was born the day after the 1947 FA Cup Final against Charlton. My dad had a ticket but couldn't go because my mum went into labour a week earlier than expected. I'm not certain if he ever forgave me.

League tables & results are all on here but the wins against Sheff U & Orient you refer to were in 1976/77.DCWat wrote: ↑Sat Apr 10, 2021 4:45 pmAccording to this at least https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1977–78_Football_League

Still celebrating being reigning First Division Champions for the second time, by thrashing Nobbers 5.0 at Turf Moor two days before the momentous day...... .

Re: What were the Clarets doing the year you came into the world?
So you were born with us looking likely to go down but in a remarkable run that saw us climb the table. Nine wins, one draw and two defeats from the last twelve games and the defeats came once we were well and truly safe.

Re: What were the Clarets doing the year you came into the world?
Just about to get relegated. To the fourth division.
We were managed by John Benson who had just replaced John bond.
Well at least I wasn’t on any bandwagon.
Re: What were the Clarets doing the year you came into the world?
Last game before I was born we were in the Cup Final. Sadly it was 47 not 62. I was there but couldn’t see a thing

Re: What were the Clarets doing the year you came into the world?
We were 7th in the top division, and on the day of my birth we drew away 1-1 at Bloomfield Road-which is fitting as is probably the away ground I've most been to.

Born on a Wednesday. Previous Saturday lost 4-1 at Chelsea and week before that lost 6-1 at Old Trafford. Thankfully, last game of season 51-52 when I was just 3 days old we beat Portsmouth at home 1-0.
