I don’t envy whoever has the task of finding Cork’s long term successor, it’ll be no easy task. I do think we need to be looking for an ‘up and coming’ to be bedded in (and ideally learn from the master) though I’m of the view that Jack has a few good years left in him yet.

The biggest sign that a player is playing at a level below his ability is when he appears to be one step ahead of everyone in the middle of the park (for either team). Anticipating where to be for second balls, always having time and rarely misplacing a pass.

You can bring players into the squad to learn from him but there is only room for one Jack Cork in the team. He is the player that would cost the most for us to replace using VK’s words when he says we only replace with better quality than what we have. Cork is miles above championship standard tbh.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve said it before, the best ‘football brain’ we have in the squad.

Corky and Johann have been playing great lately.
Corky, thriving as the centre piece in this team.
Johann, finally we are playing the style of football that gets his juices flowing.
We have two premier league class footballers who appear truly happy with the way things are going at our fantastic club.

Why no song for him? Or Brownhill for that matter?

Two? What about Westwood, Cullen, Brownhill and Taylor?

Of the loanees, Tella performed well in the PL last season before being injured, Beyer and H-B are immense and are definitely PL ready, Maatsen is a 'maybe, maybe not' for me and Halil hasn't been seen often enough to really tell.

Benson and Zaroury look PL ready though that remains to be seen. Twine, McNally and Churlinov haven't had enough game time to know either way. Vitinho is showing his class the more he plays at right back and is a definite possible, Bastien, Connor and Long are maybe/maybe nots

He’s a class player, and it sort of shows the gulf between the two leagues that at 33 he’s one of the very best midfielders in the Championship.

You can see a mile off he’s played most of his career in the top flight, although even then only at lower to mid table sides.

We’ll miss him when he gets his two game ban at some point.

I chose to mention just two of the many players that are doing really well this season. I'm not going to write a full analysis of the whole squad every time I wish to praise one or two players, but you go ahead if it makes you happy.

And possibly a three game ban later on with the way he’s going.

Jack Cork must be in with a fair shout of winning our POTY award if he continues in this vein.

A key cog in our side and one who often goes under the radar.
