Not Son's best season this season.
Been "off song" most of this season by his own standards.

No complaints from Spurs but Porros’ foot came down on the ball.

It was a televised game because I distinctly remember the commentators remarking on how odd it was that we hadn’t used the concussion sub, pretty sure it was a home game.ClaretTony wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 9:40 pmThe only one can think of is Ben Mee in the 3-0 win at Palace but he definitely had to sit out the next game against Fulham

One reason for not using a concussion sub is that you don't want to give the opponent a sixth substitute.PremierLeagueClass wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 9:52 pmIt was a televised game because I distinctly remember the commentators remarking on how odd it was that we hadn’t used the concussion sub, pretty sure it was a home game.

Re: Spurs v City
Congrats to Villa.
Looking at the table, we had 6 of what looks like the final the top 8 in our first 8 games. Of the other two games, we got 4 points and it should have been six but for England. Then our striker was taken ill.
Really was a near impossible task from day 1.

It has irrated me all season and even more so now, we'd be 2 points off Forest if the decision against them was given correctly and they have the audacity to complain about VAR.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:11 pmCongrats to Villa.

Re: Spurs v City
It really wasn’t a near impossible task. After those 8 games we were 18th and only in the relegation zone on goal difference. People need to stop looking for excuses and accept that we’ve been nowhere near good enough and are quite likely to end the season on just 24 points, which would be 9 points from safety and 12 points if you discount Forest’s points deduction.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:11 pmCongrats to Villa.

Re: Spurs v City
The frightening thing which further exacerbated the plummeting depths we were sinking to is the speed everton pulled away. I don't subscribe to the popular notion that SD would have took us down backed up by what he's achieved at everton. Some people say everton had a stronger team if that's the case why when we was relegated the first thing they did is take JT & Dwight the corner would have turned.

Re: Spurs v City
In general I think they’re a joy to watch but some of the things they do infuriate me and I don’t even support them

The top two that someone with deeper football knowledge will have to explain to me are:
1. Opportunity to play the ball in to space in front of the winger to break. Pass it almost behind him to the point they have to stop their run. Pass backwards.
2. On a counter, right winger plays it inside to a CM. Left winger is wide open and through on goal. CM doesn’t pass and runs at the defenders, only releasing the ball when he’s been closed down. Pass intercepted or move messed up.
There must be a reason for it, Pep designs everything, I just don’t know what it is.

I really dislike City and their whole set up, even if they include world class players like De Bruyne etc.
Can't even bear to watch them nowadays, was really glad Madrid beat them in the CL, even though they probable aren't much better...

the Karma heading Arsenal's way is joyful
Re: Spurs v City
Bit weird really. A team that was a genuine title contender and got to a CL final a few years ago now not wanting to win. Another year without CL, another year falling further behind the rest, another year where the manager gets the boot.TheFamilyCat wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 11:12 pmCracking bantz when they're about to finish 20+ points behind them. Big Ange essentially had a go at the club and the fanbase after the game. Probably because of stuff like this. https://www.skysports.com/football/news ... ague-hopesPoulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:05 pmSpurs fans signing 'Are you watching Arsenal' after the second went in![]()
Re: Spurs v City
Trouble is Man City being so dominant does football no go whatsoever.
Re: Spurs v City
It'd be interesting to see how much Spurs have spent on players and the new stadium since the Premier League was set up only for them to win a single League Cup in 2008.
The Glory Glory Tottenham Hotspur days are a long long time ago.

Re: Spurs v City
Being based in prime Spurs supporting territory, I never tire of making the point when Spurs are mentioned as being a big club, that there is only one year difference between the last time Burnley were champions of England and the last time Spurs could say the same. It generally brings an end to the claims.....

Re: Spurs v City
Yeah I was expecting a lot of their fans to either want to lose or not care if they did lose, but for the majority of the stadium to start singing that was interesting, even by Spurs standards. It showed the world where they are at as a club.Swizzlestick wrote: ↑Wed May 15, 2024 7:29 amBig Ange essentially had a go at the club and the fanbase after the game. Re: Spurs v City
Ange won the Manager Of The Month award for August, September and October but recently articles have been appearing describing him as overrated.
Whatever happened to the “breath of fresh air” who was being showered with plaudits by fans and pundits alike?
Re: Spurs v City
I have no idea.
The media, as we know, will latch on to anything "new". An Australian at a London club having a bit of a success was a Godsend. But Spurs being Spurs, it didn't last long.
He's blaming everybody without giving details but most certainly not blaming himself.
Just heard Redknapp junior saying "they should have kept Kane". FFS the bloke had been desperate to leave for years. The fact they failed to find another striker is another issue and one the Board can be criticised for.

Re: Spurs v City
Their wages are a fair chunk lower than the other top 4 teams. They tend to finish about where you'd expect if you just looked at the numbers.
Re: Spurs v City
Spurs' record signing fee was circa £55m for Ndombélé - remember him? - and then three others around the £50m mark (Richarlison, Johnson and Romero).
Blows us out of the water but then they're a long way off City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal.

Re: Spurs v City
I'm not sure how Anges style can work in terms of winning trophies with a front 3 of Johnson,Son, Kulsevski.
None of them are good enough for a title chasing team (Son used to be but is gradually on the decline).
Until they have top players they won't challenge for trophies, it's quite simple really. Ange has done a good job with what he's got.
