100% would rather we lost 1 game of football than give Rovers a title.

Too right, as long as there was nowt at stake for us and a defeat would screw R*vers up.
Wouldn't bother me in the least.

Spurs need a win to try and qualify for the Champions League.
Anyone who wants their own team to suffer to stop their rivals prospering enjoys the sport differently to me.

I did say to my Spurs supporting mate at work a few weeks ago, that it would be the most Spursy thing ever for them to lose to Arsenal and then beat City

Re: Spurs v City
As mentioned Spurs would be helping Man City to win the title at the expense of them failing to qualify for the Champions League and the extra money it brings. So it's not as straightforward as if Spurs had nothing to play for.

Correction - it would be the most Spurs thing ever for them to beat City and Sheff Utd, gift Arsenal the title, but still finish 5th.Poulton-le-Claret wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 10:06 amI did say to my Spurs supporting mate at work a few weeks ago, that it would be the most Spursy thing ever for them to lose to Arsenal and then beat City![]()

Re: Spurs v City
What Spurs fans should have wanted is for them to lose to us (helping us) so that this game with City had nothing on it for them...then they could have happily lost to City to thwart Arsenal. As it is they've screwed us and are now caught in a tricky situation.

Re: Spurs v City
Spurs will be going all out to improve their chance of ECL next season anyway. Any other suggestion is typical of the modern thinking conspiracy theorist!
Re: Spurs v City
Spurs fans will not want to help Arsenal to win the title, but they won’t be cheering for City - they support Spurs. They may laugh and taunt Arsenal if they go 2 - 0 down, but that’s it. The players, however, will be going full out to win. They are professional athletes and that’s how they are programmed.

Spurs V Man city
I'm sure by now that a lot of you couldn't give a toss but it seems to be splitting opinion and allegiances everywhere.
Spurs fans wanting themselves to win to keep alive their faint hopes of Champions League
Spurs fans wanting themselves to get beat so Arsenal cant win the title
Arsenal fans wanting Spurs to win
Villa wanting City to win
United fans wanting City to win
Liverpool fans saying they want City to win so that Klopp remains the only other manager to have won the title in Guardiola era
Everton fans wanting their points back they got docked and also wanting City's points so that they can be Champions instead - it's only fair innit!

Re: Spurs V Man city
I can’t stand Arteta and think his behaviour is awful, but his team play excellent football and it hasn’t been built with the petrodollars and creative accounting that City’s has been. Really, really hope Arsenal can do it.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2024 5:16 pmI'm sure by now that a lot of you couldn't give a toss but it seems to be splitting opinion and allegiances everywhere.

City for me. Arsenal fans were k******** at the Turf this season, so I am hoping they don't win any silverware.

If you want your own team to lose and miss out on Champions League football, then you might as well give up watching FFS.

A draw for me so it goes down to GD on the final day.
City at home to West Ham, Arsenal at home to Everton, both teams to score 5+ goals is 16/1

Don't want City to win the league again but no chance they're slipping up tonight.

I hope Citeh lose to a very very controversial VAR decision in injury time, the money grabbing cheating twohats.

I can't see Citeh slipping up. They should beat the Premier Leagues perennial underachievers handsomely.
Re: Spurs V Man city
I want Arsenal to win the league as they don't have a benefactor and built the Emirates using commercial loans etc. Wenger even said it would affect the playing squad quality but it would be worth it in the future. Agree re Arteta and some of their fans, very obnoxious.

Re: Spurs v City
Spurs are not good enough to beat city, defensively they are weak, bear in mind city beat Fulham 4.0 away from home, and the spurs defence will not cope with city's strikeforce

Much was being made of Tottenham being on a 4 game losing streak prior to last Saturday but those defeats came against Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle suggesting that they struggle against the better teams. And Manchester City are right up there as one of the best in world football not just the PL.

You are a Spurs fan and Spurs lose. You are happy.
On Sunday City lose, Arsenal win. Gunners are Champs.
Spurs win, Villa lose. A win tonight would have seen Spurs in the CL.
Are they happy now?

One of the most dull halves of football I have seen this season. I wonder if Pep forgot to tell his team they need to win this game, it does not look like they are that bothered.

This concussion sub protocol is a bit of a joke when clubs deliberately use a normal sub to avoid losing the player for two weeks is it? Makes a bit of a mockery of player safety efforts.
Didn’t Dyche do the same thing for us once?
