Re: Retained List
I'd assumed we we'd release Peacock-Farrell.
No surprises in the U21 & U18 releases - most of those players had disappeared some time ago. Three of the U21s only arrived in Jan but they always looked no more than numbers to make up for those out on loan.

I thought Le Fondre was fairly highly rated with the under 21s?

Re: Retained List
"The club is in conversations with the parent clubs and the representatives of Lorenz Assignon and Jacob Bruun Larsen to activate permanent moves."
Surely that is more in hope than expectation - that would be the best part of another £15-20m you'd think combined for the pair of them (perhaps I am mistaken)?
Second thing that stands out is how ridiculous that list is of players returning to us from loan. It's Chelsea levels. We need to absolutely slash our squad to bits as there is so much dead weight.

Re: Retained List
BPF is a strange one. Almost forgot we had him. Second keeper for the Championship and one of Trafford or Muric to leave?
Think we'll struggle to get Assignon and JBL over the line whilst the manager uncertainty is ongoing.
Weghorst will obviously be off.
Would love to see Charlie Taylor for another season.

He was out injured for a long time and doesn't seem to have had much game time since coming back. Have to admit, I've hardly seen him.

Which is another reason BPF has surprised me unless we think we can get a good fee for him.jedi_master wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:08 am

BPF staying might be a sign that either Muric or Trafford is expected to leave.ClaretOfMancunia wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:08 amBPF is a strange one. Almost forgot we had him. Second keeper for the Championship and one of Trafford or Muric to leave?

We haven't a clue who will be sniffing around our squad.

BPF is a perfect back up keeper for me, always done fairly well when needed. well experienced

Muric/Trafford, BPF, Vigoroux
Probably just means that we don't need to bring a keeper in this summer as we're definitely selling one of our 'main' keepers.

I suspect we might sell both Muric and Trafford and bring in a new first choice keeper. We could get decent money for both and neither exactly inspire that much confidencejedi_master wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:26 amMuric/Trafford, BPF, Vigoroux

Re: Retained List
Lewis didn’t get a game at Dundee for half a season and ended up in the National League North. Bit strange given he got off the bench against Crawley last year though.
Renaldo Torraj Is the surprise for me. He always seems to play for the U21’s. Whilst the competition is a bit of a joke, he’s also been selected for JJ’s team in the US this summer

Re: Retained List
I actually think BPF is a decent shot stopper. his problem is concentration. he can be superb and still lose you a game with a stupid mistake, as we've got used to that the past 9 months he'll be fine for the bench unless he'd rather move on.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:26 amBPF better with his feet than Trafford but isn’t as good of a shot stopper

Dara Costelloe is an interesting one. Mentions he’s returning from loan, but I thought his contract was up? No mention in the option extended section, nor released section.

I might not have used the word bobbins but to be honest he's never impressed me. He spent the second half of this season on loan at Curzon Ashton.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:45 amWhen at Chelsea he went on loan at accy Stanley and a lot of their fans said he was absolutely bobbins
Re: Retained List
Being under 24 I guess we'd be due a development fee or whatever it's called if he went elsewhere at the moment. Can't really remember how it works but I assume we wouldn't get that if we released him.burnleytom wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 11:59 amDara Costelloe is an interesting one. If Trafford is in the England squad its good for the club, as it keeps the focus of his potential, and probably does no harm to his re-sale value

You mean Fofana isn't coming?
Re: Retained List
BPF is worth another year. At 27, he's coming into his prime years and has 44 International caps for NI. The very least you'd expect is to sell him for a fee. Brownhill's extension is a no brainer. He might not be PL standard but you know what you're getting the Championship. If we have Berge, Cullen and Brownhill in September we'll have the strongest CM options of anyone in the division by a long way.

Have any of the players returning from loans put themselves in the shop window? Can't say I've been following them but I'd expect some posts on here if any were doing particularly well.

It would only have to be a fee larger than his wages for it to make financial sense.

Re: Retained List
34 players signed up
Offers made to 2 more
And in talks with 2 more
And we still want/need additional signings
1 "natural" RB at present in Roberts
0 "natural" LB at present unless Taylor signs up
4 experienced CM
1 central striker
Well done VK for assembling such a well balanced squad

Tony - do EFL clubs have to do these retained lists on a certain day now. This morning was mightily impressed we’d done one so quickly and communicated properly but have just seen that other thread titled ‘EFL retained list’ so wondered if it’s a regulatory requirement?

Harry Moss starting in goal for Gateshead today vs Barnet. Good to see some of our previous youngsters playing at a good level.
