Doesn't matter who we get, as long as Alan ties him down to a rolling 5 year contract so we always get a good compo package when a bigger club comes a calling.

Apart from Steve Bruce, Parker has the best Championship record of the managers who are available. He’ll need a new cardigan though.

Re: Next manager
Before the last two seasons the thought of Bellamg would literally have filled me with dread.
Don't get me wrong. It definitely wouldn't be the safest appointment.
However, he's really impressed me when I've heard him speak recently, both in his role covering Kompany, and in a podcast I caught. May just be a sucker, but I get the impression he's actually learnt some tough lessons, and matured a bit from his playing days.
Quite interesting that Kompany has obviously seen a lot of value in him.
Basically I cat see it, but it's not as batshit mental an idea as I'd once have thought it.
Think Potter and potentially Moyes are a bit pie in the sky and wishful thinking. Personally don't fancy Robins or Rosenior. Do think Pace actually got it right with the Kompany appointment and just hope he brings someone in who can give us another 22/23 season.

Re: Next manager
Bellamy was part of a leadership group that was responsible for one of the worst seasons in our history. On that basis alone he shouldn’t be anywhere near an interview.
On a wider point we are the 19th most successful club in the country, have a young, talented squad, a loyal fan base and a (potentially) very loyal Chairman.
We are a very, very attractive proposition!

I think Pace could sell the task to Moyes. I think Pace will also see Moyes as being local, and a good fit for the club.

Honestly for me.. 'one of the worst seasons in our history' is just bull. I know if we're talking about points tallys etc. Maybe even expectation vs reality you could argue..John Johnson 1605 wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 6:55 pmBellamy was part of a leadership group that was responsible for one of the worst seasons in our history. But those expectations were so high because of what kompany and his team delivered the season before.
You also mention a 'young, talented squad'... err weirdly that was built by kompany and his leadership group. Anyway let's not disappear down that rabbit hole.
Regardless I think a Bellamy appointment is unlikely tbh. My point was more it isn't actually as batshit mental as I'd once have thought it. And regardless of where he ends up anf whether he actually is a better assistant than manager (of which theres plenty of examples)... Bellamy has surprised/impressed me. He's not someone I'd ever have considered likely to have a post playing career in the game. It may just be me, but he's come across well imo.

8th and 11th I think in the seasons either side so definitely improved them
Re: Next manager
Will Still could be an interesting appointment. Did an excellent job with Reims. Belgian-English bloke who studied in Preston and worked for PNE (under-14 team).
Was heavily linked with Sunderland a few months back.

Graham Potter can be ruled out, he is now outright favourite to return to Brighton where he is very highly regarded by club owner Tony Bloom. Not that he was ever in serious consideration.

Re: Next manager
Would love to see David Moyes but I doubt it would happen. I feel totally indifferent to Kompany going. Last season was amazing but his decision making and signings this season have been awful. Its a tough job for whoever takes over because expectations will be through the roof. I cant see us challenging next season but hope we are.

If we can get Potter +15m compensation for Vinny then Pace will have pulled off a blinder. Only heard robins was a choice. From the same source who’s just told me that potter is being spoken to. I don’t think he’d be open to drop a division but the rumour is that he might.123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 9:49 pmYesterday you was convinced mark robins was happening now you can see potter happening, make your mind up

If he wasn't so strongly associated with DL I'd love it.
He's mad as a box of frogs and a complete purist but he's absolutely brilliant.
When Everton potted Lampard they enquired about Bielsa - he turned the managerial role down but said he'd take over the U21s until Summer before taking over the senior team

Realistic candidates: Robins, Cooper, Corberan, Rohl, Bellamy.
Realistic but not keen on: Wagner, Wilder, Parker, Cook
Fairly unrealistic candidates: Carrick, Moyes, Knutsen.
Totally unrealistic candidates: Potter, Allardyce.
Stay the heck away from: Ole, Rooney, Lampard, Keane, Barton.
