Next manager
Re: Next manager
We need a manager with experience of managing at least at championship level.
We don't need another salesman telling us 'it's a long term project' nonsense.
We are a football club not a mission to frickin Mars.

I like and respect Moyes .... I think West Ham fans showed that they are never really happy with they way he was treated after getting them stable and won them a cup in europe
But I don't think he would be the right fit for us and for him ....

Its Moyes not Mars
Re: Next manager
Personally I would be very happy to see David Moyes take the position but whether or not he would take the job is the big question. A lot of excellent posts debating the why's and wherefores but sometimes the challenge and the kudos that goes with possible success might be too much to ignore.

Re: Next manager
I wanted VK out early last season as I could see it wasn’t going to work after a few games. I valued the club’s PL status more than him as an individual. He was probably the best bet to get us back up though. He had recently become a more divisive figure but I think everyone will get right behind a new manager whoever it is. This is probably the best way to start a new season.
Re: Next manager
Really not sure Moyes is the man. Is he really going to be motivated enough for a season in the champ? How's his knowledge of Championship players? What market are we going to sign players from?
I think his role is to stabilise teams In the Premier Leaggue these days. I don't think he's what we are after.

Personally would prefer Bellamy to stay on as head Coach under a DOF for the continuity of our squad.
If not then Moyes or Knutsen or Cooper.

Can’t think of a better option right now to be honest, experienced, still only 61, and plenty of passion and know how left in the tank, lot's of ground work done, we just need a more pragmatic, less stubborn and open to change to get results guy and I'd guess less into the analystics side of the game, more likely to play simple football as he see's it on the pitch. perfect fit imo, still a property in the north west I think, what's not to like. The Shire Claret wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:42 pmI like and respect Moyes .... Liverpool Academy managerNewClaret wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 2:16 pmThere’s just something about him I cannot warm to.
He always looks like his face has been slapped or he’s in an abusive relationship or something. He just doesn’t scream ‘leader’ to me.
Will say that with his championship experience and premiere league experience I’d prefer him to all this Robins, Rosinior talk. Definitely.
won the U17 World Cup with England
Got an average Swansea side to the play-off final
Took over Forest when they were going down in the Championship and got them promoted
What part of that doesn't scream 'leader' ?
He ticks pretty much every single box, works well with young lads, plenty of experience and a track record of getting the job done. I don't really know much about his style of play though tbh

I believe Foden has been very very complimentary of him in the past.

My main fear about Steve Cooper is the cricket field adopting the Super trooper song, I am not ready for the CFS to be belting out Abba so for that reason it's a no from me.

Jesus.
It’s football management not Love Island.
If good looks was a criteria then you can rule out Moyes too.
Wonder how much Leonardo Di Caprio knows about transitioning through the lines and the use of high wing backs.

Nice one. Great analogy pal!Hibsclaret wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 12:38 pmMoyes will not join a Championship club after all that time in the prem. It just won’t happen irrespective of whether he would be the best man for the job or if we offered a massive contract. The guy has earned millions and clearly doesn’t need to be farting around in the Championship with a load of foreign youngsters. It would be like Gordon Ramsay going back to Le Gavroche to work as a sous chef.

Whoever gets the job, at least half the players have to go. Far too many on the books.

Gordon Ramsay is the Pep Guardiola or Carlo Ancelotti of the food world, and David Moyes is the equivalent of Ainsley Harriott

Bellamy, no thanks.. carrick, robins , come on.. decent championship managers yes but is that all we want? It’s got to either moyes or cooper or perhaps even Edwards .. we’ve got a very talented young squad that just needs a bit of steel and a coach that knows what he’s doing

We've just seen our manager get poached by Bayern Munich after turning in a 24 point season - if that can happen quite literally anything can.

Bellamy - no, no thanks
Cole - please, please, NO
Rooney - you're having a laugh right???
Moyes- not gonna happen
Rosenior, Rohl, Edwards - rather not
Corberan - possibly
Carrick, Robins - wouldn't mind
Fabregas - it'd be interesting, but I don't think he's experienced enough for this job
Potter - very tempting
Cooper, Knutsen - cant choose between them. Yes to both

Russell Martin wouldn’t be a bad shout.
Talk of him being sacked if Southampton don’t go up.

Re: Next manager
Had nothing to really work with at MK Dons and Swansea.
25 match unbeaten run this season, and on verge of promotion.
Probably unfortunate he’s had to contend with the most competitive Championship in years, otherwise may have secured automatic.
Similar style of play VK.

I'd have Rohl and Edwards over Carrick and Robins personally.
Firstly I'd be going all out for Cooper though

They will be looking to Europe for the next hot thing.
There’s plenty around I’ve listed a few that am adamant the club will be after or at least hoping to attract

Re: Next manager
The issue I have with people like Moyes and his ilk is they are used to spending rather large amounts of cash on extremely good players. I actually like Moyes and I do think he's not only a good manager, but an honest type who understands football in this country and the way it has to connect with the fans. Slightly "old school" if you like. But ultimately we simply can't afford someone who needs to chuck money around on expensive players on expensive contracts. We need someone with contacts in the lower leagues in this country and abroad and who can spot and hopefully polish a few diamonds and who is ambitious and has a point to prove. (Yes, I do realise this sounds exactly like VK! )
Re: Next manager
It's got to be Knutsen or Fabregas for me if attainable.
None of the British based managers inspire confidence but it'd have to be Carrick, Cooper or Robins for me if we take that approach.
I really like Robins but it would be a bit of a gamble.
If Bellamy gets it we are royally screwed.

Re: Next manager
After losing Ramsey, Archer, Akpom & Giles, Boro had a stinker in the summer recruitment wise and then lost half his defence to season long injuries. They had a pretty good run towards the end and were a shout for sneaking in the play offs. I think his style of play is very suited to our current squad profile. Sounds like he will sign a new deal though.LincsWoldsClaret wrote: ↑Thu May 23, 2024 4:45 pmCarrick has taken Championship play-off contenders to lacklustre mid table obscurity- not sure why he’d be in the running

Don’t think Bellamy would be well suited to management but is probably a very good number 2.
I’d like him to stay in the staff given he has a reputation as a good coach .
It’ll be interesting to see which names come up once Kompany is confirmed as gone.
Hopefully they’re done their homework and the wheels are in motion .
