No, it could still be Frankie Lampards Claret and Blue army when he goes to the London Stadium. Not sure he'd be welcome back there though.

Ruud up to 3rd.

Where is that coming from?
I can only think it's down to Pace apparently wanting a big name and his is the biggest in that list (17 letters).

It's actually a few more than 17: Rutgerus Johannes Martinus "Ruud" van Nistelrooij

I feel that AP needs to get the manager situation resolved within a couple of weeks.
If it’s to be Bellamy then tell him and let him crack on.
If not then get someone committed to the club in post. There is a lot to sort out and at the moment it feels like the club is drifting.

If Derek McInnes could be tempted, I'd be pretty hopeful of big improvements with the squad we've got. He's got a proven track record of getting results without spending pots of money

It would be nice to make an appointment this week and get to work but I suspect it will be more like next week.

I wonder if there's an element of wait and see for some other jobs to be resolved first and then a few more candidates may be interested (or ruled out).

It's probably some strange contractual thing where an active PL Manager can't manage another team, and that includes Soccer Aid or something. I suspect Frank has agreed terms but can't sign on the dotted line until after SA based on that.

Surely if Lampard wins Soccer Aid he'll have better offers on the table than Burnley. Maybe he's stalling.

I don't think Lampard can really turn his back on a big Charity commitment like Soccer Aid. He would correctly get a lot of criticism for it.
If he had already signed for us, then he would also be criticised by our fanbase for continuing with the Soccer Aid commitment whilst being employed by us, so as others have suggested:
Maybe he has come to an agreement with AP, and all will be announced once his commitment to the charity is concluded?
It's all speculation though. He might not even be in the frame anymore.
Bottom line for me however, is that he is more suited to us as a club, (than less) if he fulfills his commitment to Soccer Aid.

Just the small matter of trying to make sense of our lopsided mish mash of a squad as well as presumably deciding who goes to fill the enormous hole in ouf finances. Im not sure all that can wait another 6 weeks.

Twitter (X) him and ask him, oh and finish off with UTC. In between I’ll ask my season ticket friend at Chelsea if I can borrower his large banner with Lamps picture on it, we can then hang it over the edge of the longside upper front section, the banner reads “ Super Frankie Lampard”. ;)

The early June return made sense on paper but I bet if he'd spoken to someone more experienced like a Warnock, they'd have advised him strongly against it

When you say Lampard fitting the ALK perfectly is that because Pace and JJ will be able to reminisce together with Lampard about the good old days at Chelsea when they were fans?

Shouldn’t having been a successful manager previously be higher on the list than just a very successful player?

Don’t think Newcastle is suggesting Lampard should be so high on the list but he’s a clear ALK fit. Former top level player that can help promote brand Burnley, who also has experience of playing in America

I would like to think that a good ALK fit included in the job specification, ‘previous success as a manager’, it’s not a marketing consultant’s role.

‘Previous success as a manager’ wasn’t Kompany. Whether it’s the wrong way or you don’t like it, I think it’s pretty fair to suggest that Lampard totally fits with ALK.

For the record I wouldn’t want Lampard but I would much rather Lampard than Bellamy

One reason I wouldn’t want Bellamy…aside from his having no experience or track record…. Is that I want a new manager who will come in with fresh eyes and no preconceptions. We than have the best chance of shedding players who either aren’t up to it or don’t really want to be here (or both !) .
