At least if you're not watching we won't have to read your drivel.
I wouldn't count on that. He's way too needy. Like an attention-seeking teenager at its worse.

For me we aren't watching Scott Parker's football.
We are watching Scott Parker trying to 'manage' Burnley out of The Championship and into The Premier League as Head Coach.
He has to do this with the players at his disposal, several of them injured.
When we get to The Premier League his primary job will be to avoid relegation with the players at his disposal.
In seasons to come his job will be to avoid relegation and to improve the quality of our players.
Football may have become an entertainment business but primarily the ultimate aim is still to win football matches, enough of them to consider the season a success. When that is achieved the football automatically becomes 'more entertaining'.
My examples this season are Forest, Bournemouth and Fulham.
However there are no guarantees for those clubs, for next season.
Clubs like us will always begin each season among the favourites for relegation.
Our success will be judged season by season.

How many good decisions has Scott Parker made this season?
Giving Egan Riley his chance
Replacing Pires with Humphreys despite a few dodgy and indifferent performances at first.
Moving Anthony to the right
Dropping Koleosho - a very brave decision given the hype.
Moving Brownhill to number 10
Clearly the players have been working on creating quality chances in recent weeks and now on varying the set pieces.

Little by little he's adding layers to the way the team plays. A definite In for me.

I gave him a lot of credit early doors on here you can check my posts. I reiterate i like the guy, comes across well.

I haven't seen any improvement in performances what i have watched, its a really hard watch with no skill on show or two crosses a game like yesterday.

Its not even anti football i cant give it a name as ive never seen football played in such a dull way before. Passing for the sake of passing. Running around in circles with little passes that get nowhere.

Its not exciting its not fast its like watching paint dry. At least with VK's obsession with passing backwards they had a go attacking a few times a game after each player had touched it 100 times.

I wont be watching the next few games as its waste of time, each to their own, Pace hasnt got a clue what hes doing evidently if and when we get promoted, cant see this style doing anything in the prem.
Three of our last four goals have been great football.

Anthony’s and Brownhill’s against Watford and Brownhill’s yesterday.

I can see why he got potted after 8 games in Belgium.

The Fulham and Bournemouth fans were spot on the football we play is not even as good as Southgate slop.

Even the fact sky can't big it up should give you a clue how good it is.

Like the guy but his football is atrocious boring crap.
I'm just a little curious, when was the last time that you were at Turf Moor? Must be quite some time now?

Why do you feel the need to come onto a football forum telling people that you wont be watching the team for the next few games? Just dont watch the games, leave your tv switched off or put it on a different channel, you certainly dont need to broadcast it on this message board that you wont be watching.

Just do it lad and no one on here will even know, that'll teach 'em!

Cannot believe superjohnnyfrancis is really a Burnley fan with views like that.

Parker is doing a sensational job and producing a young team after a summer of turmoil and guiding them to within a point of top of the table. A team that plays some good stuff at times and shows real character at others - digging in and getting the job done. It’s very reminiscent of how Dyche built success and feels like we have an identity and “old Burnley” back to me.

The only point I’d agree with is I’m not sure how this team will do in the Premier League but we’ve got a lot of work to do before that becomes a question to discuss, and hopefully have a few additions in January and a summer transfer window before then too.

We may not match the points total from two years ago, but without doubt yesterday's performance was every bit as good as anything we produced two seasons ago.

It was that good.

Watching professional football will never be the best investment if you look at it from a purely monetary perspective, but you can’t put a price on the emotional aspect of it.

Cant argue with the results but the football itself needs an unbelievable amount of work doing to it, pass and move with pace, running forwards ( i know revolutionary), all very basic things that could improve us no end. Shooting at goal! apart from Flemming does anyone else do this?

We have actually been very lucky with managers in the past 25 years or so, particularly when you look at the fortunes of some other trigger happy clubs and how they behave. Whilst I immensely disliked Coyle when he left, the times under him, including the play off final were superb. Stan was charismatic and he steered us up the leagues in some style and some thrashings too mind you. Howe brought in some excellent talent, Dyche produced miracles with a thread bare team, and VK gave us a sensational season. I even like Cotterill who was the master at bringing talent to our squad (an endless list of great lower league players), though the football was very turgid at the end. Time will tell on Parker but for now you cannot but praise enough what he has achieved in half a season

He has done a fantastic job with this squad. But we need a manager who can help us survive for a couple of years in the PL if we go up.
Oddly, enough, I think this squad in the PL would suit dycheball.
Happy new year, bedwetters.

Scott Parker is pragmatic - he’s better than any other option that we could secure to keep us in the PL with what we will have avalible to us

He’s a bit older and a lot wiser than the last time he was there

Managers should get more time that they do and I’m glad our club aren’t so quick to react

We don’t want to be Watford

The same league record after 23 games as the Vinnie's much loved team. The only team to beat any of the top 4 on their home ground - and we've done it twice. 9 goals conceded and 14 clean sheets.

Time will tell, but I think 'Parkerball' is evolving into something a bit more adventurous and, hopefully, more enjoyable to watch, whilst retaining that defensive solidity.

We certainly have an excellent foundation to build upon in the transfer window. We must have a fair emount of 'pulling power' to anybody who isn't getting first team football in the Prem.

That first goal was absolutely superb yesterday in the build up against the second best defense in the league only to us...

Also, the second goal against Watford was even better and fantastic football skill on show

You are entitled to your view of course but it's not one I can get with at all... There have been boring games this season but only Derby in the last few have been poor and that's due to teams coming for a point - it happened under VK too.

There is a very valid reason for all the passing and it's not just Burnley who do it but if you gain control of the game and get the opposition chasing then you test their fitness and break them down

Maybe you don't like modern day football ?
Thank you for a more reasoned reply than the majority of silly ones.

I think yes you are right in that modern day football is very poor in the lower leagues, Guardiola has a lot to answer for this passing around the pitch nonsense which goes nowhere. Maybe the tide is going to change now he is having a bad spell, one can only hope.

We might have the pulling power but equally getting blown out of the water in terms of wages might bring problems.

Parkers never fitted in with certain sections of the fan base probably too used to the fancy dan stuff served up by the special K. I personally don't mind him the results can't be argued with first & foremost a day of reckoning will lie ahead whether that's enough. It's a crazy season in the sense that we haven't really put a foot wrong but still find ourselves outside of the automatic promotion picture after beating the top 2 away that currently sit.

I can't remember when he referred to ' bumps in the road ' but there couldn't have been a bigger one than having to rebuild his side after the Great Sale. That was a Big Dipper!

Most fans I know were happy to get on board and see what happened while happy to try and enjoy the ride. Too many ummed and ahhed shivered in fear . Of course they now want to get on board.

I've always maintained everything will be decided later on it's well on course at the moment. I've never been against him more let's judge things on a ongoing basis. Pace will have already told him the job remit & objective & will probably decide on a later basis. The encouraging part in terms of seeing the end & the start of somebody new the hit won't be as high I can't see a BM wanting SP not that I think he's a worse manager it's all down to name.

Out

Try watching the full match replay against Stoke.

After that match I do believe Scott Parker is delivering elevator football.

Parker is working with the cards he was dealt. Nobody is saying it's pretty and nobody is saying he's got everything 100% correct, but he's got us second in the league and yet we've rarely looked "brilliant". If he gets us promoted working with the dodgy hand he was dealt following the Cardiff game he'll have done a hell of a job. We'll see.

I still don't think he's the right man long term, I don't think his signings really fit the ALK model. Even if we scrape our way to promotion, we've got to fork out 11m on Jaidon Anthony, a staggering amount for a really bang average player. Touching 40m in fees for Hannibal (9m), Flemming (6m), Humphreys (13m), Anthony (11m), Laurent (1m) and Worrall (5m), that's a whole lot of money for what? top 10 level Championship players with little potential (Humphreys aside).

I preferred the old recruitment in general:
5m combined for Benson and Anass or 11m for a bog standard 1 in 4 Championship level Jaidon Anthony.
9m on Hannibal or 12m for a PL level Berge, Cullen was 2m.
Tella loan or Sarmiento.
5m on Joe Worrall or 5m for Ekdal and Al Dakhil combined.
4m on Houndonkey or 3m on Churlinov (we didn't see the best of Darko but he's clearly got more ability than Hountondji)

The only real big misses were Tresor and Foster, but we made enormous profit on the rest to cover those losses and significantly more. It felt like we were bringing in players who COULD be good enough for the PL. It just felt like we got the balance wrong last season, it didn't need ripping up completely, it was still successful in finding good players.

Right now it feels like we've potentially ****** away an absolute fortune on players who definitely aren't and never will be good enough for the PL. It puts us on the back foot instantly. 40m potentially spent in the summer and we still look way short, we can't create clear openings against utter shite like Stoke, QPR, Preston, Plymouth at home, I dread to think what a PL game would look like.

At least with Dyche the football was sometimes dross but we had a clear way of scoring, this current team is so blunt and toothless we can't even score from set pieces.

I like Parker but I think he's getting bailed out by the lack of quality in the league and a few of our individuals. It's easy to be brilliant defensively when you have Esteve, Egan Riley and Trafford and playing 3 defensive midfielders ahead of them (2 of them won the title with ease the last time they were paired)

It's going to be like the Okey Kokey on this thread, we only need a draw and a below par performance for the out boys to surface

He hates him, says Jay Rod is complete dogger, says Foster is god awful, yet says Parker is losing the plot by playing Flemming as a striker. Just about sums him/her up.

Try watching the Sheffield United away game.
