Just a shame he's so right footed

He looked sharp and worked really hard. A run of games would do him good.

Just needs space to drive into to get the most out of him, but it his role has to be as a 'wide forward', not a winger, more of a Salah/Mane over a Ryan Giggs sort of role.

In my opinion, he isn't suited for the 9 position in this setup and that is what I think SP wants from his striker.

Foster was by far our best attacking outlet in that second half. He really should be moved back to his centre forward position. However, Parker is like most managers, very reluctant to change his selection and tactics because it makes him look “wrong”.

Did nothing for me.
They gave him so much space to receive the ball knowing they could get close before he gets the ball under control.
A couple of runs to nowhere, can't pass or shoot.
A bang average championship player.

Relieved and pleased to read that a few posters thought
Lyle had a good game albeit he didn't manage to score.

I'd like to think he's going to keep on improving over the next few games
especially if he manages to get a few goals.

Really ??. I know he can be frustrating but I thought he was was miles better than Fleming, and when Anthony faded he became our main threat with some strong running and intelligent passing

Frustrating. Some good movement. Some decent passes but missed arguably the best chance of the game and continually hit the first man. And they left him in acres of space too.

But played much better than against Pompey

A couple of confidence killing moments in the first half which could have affected him, but he pulled through and played really well. Got us up the pitch nicely.

He had a couple of decent runs in the second half but a good player scores a couple tonight. He was better than Anthony second half but the bar was low.

Missed the early chance that he should have buried. His press on the keeper set up the shot that Flemming should have buried. His lovely inside pass to Cullen led to the cross for the goal. He played the one two to put CJ in. He connected with a corner and hit the keeper with the rebound. He forced a good low save from the keeper with a curler headed for the bottom corner.

Yeah, he did nowt.

If this was his best game of the season it just shows how rubbish he has been.

First half 4/10 at best

Second half 5/10

Hannibal led by example tonight.unfortunately Foster looks like he can’t be bothered, everything is an effort. He isn’t a left midfielder he is hopeless at it.

It’s amazing how different people see a game … my MOM tonight and ran his socks off … bad miss first half but he makes the pitch wide and opens the space for others ..

Seeing people saying he couldn’t be bothered tonight makes me question if they watched or can’t admit he played well due to stubbornness

I’m not a fan of either Foster or Anthony but Anthony had a very good first half and wasn’t effective at all in the second half.

Foster was hopeless in the first half and marginally better opinion the second.

I watch every game and can clearly see Foster isn’t great as an attacking left sided player it’s simply not his game. Not sure what he is good at to be fair.

He’s such a conundrum and quite typical of lots of footballers of our time, raw power, pace & physicality but his technical ability doesn’t match upto it.

It’s hard to judge him really as I feel like he’s not had a really good run of games since he signed with injury’s & various issues & still not sure we know his best position.

No shortage of effort on his part though tonight & he will no doubt be more annoyed than anyone at not scoring his chance early on, decent effort in the second half too which could have crept in on another day.

There was a bloke sat behind me calling I’m lazy and disinterested in not winning the ball back

This was when he’d just busted his ass on a breakaway down the left, crossed the ball into the area, which was cleared away, but his momentum had taken him off the pitch and nearly crashing in the advertising screens

Denied by the excellent Oxford keeper who saved his side from a thrashing. But Lyle needs support as he was let down by his team mates who left him to do the hard yards with inadequate support.A good overall game and I fancy him to score v Saints.

He did better last night. Involved in a few good things. It was nice to see one of our wingers just run down the wing in that second half rather than cutting inside. Once he got going their tiring defence struggled to keep up with him. More of the same please. Hoping once he gets one goal a few more will follow.

Divided opinion on Lyle on this post. He really frustrated me in the first 20 or so minutes but he showed his power particularly second half-how refreshing to see him running with such power, even at the end. Its something you just wont see from Koleosho,Fleming, Sarmiento, or even a tiring Anthony (though I thought he was great first half). Lyle could have had 3or 4 goals last night-I have a feeling the goals will come from him in the next few months now his confidence is growing

He was OK, more involved than recent matches but should have scored at least one (and in fairness Flemming should have scored after Foster closed the keeper down). Made the wrong decision pretty often but he isn't our only winger who does that.

If he persists on the left though then teams are going to just start showing him down the outside and he's really going to struggle as he's pretty one-footed.

It’s a toss up between the goon that thought last nights crowd was 8,000 and the half wits on here who thought Foster did nothing last night, as to which are the biggest idiots. There’s a complete bell end sat behind me in the JHU upper who berates Foster every time he gets the ball, no matter what he does. Personally I thought Foster had a very good game last night. Missed a good chance, had a couple of chances well saved, created a chance for CJER, had some excellent driving runs in the second half. Maybe he is growing into a new role he hasn’t played in before.

I can only imagine they are mentally incapable, blind or have some other agenda against foster.

There’s an obvious question to be asked of people that are seemingly unwilling to acknowledge when he has a decent game.

I felt that last night he showed me that his fitness is coming back. Looked so much stronger and with it, hungrier. I would hazard a guess and say that he seems about 90% fit now. Came off smiling. Haven't seen that for a while.

I am not a big Foster fan, I think he is five goal a season forward, but he had a good game last night and overall was our main attacking threat with three big chances. The defenders saved two and he completely fluffed the best one but at least he was in the right place to miss it.

There’s definitely a bias with forward players whereby missing a glorious chance overshadows everything else in people’s minds and that’s what they are judged on. I think this is heightened by the fact we don’t score many or create too much and so missing big chances means more in this setup, there’s more jeopardy (granted in that first half last night others were equally guilty).
