Tremendous innings this from Jadeja - grit, composure, rotating the strike to protect the tail when he can — I've been thoroughly impressed.

Very good cricketer is Jadeja, think because of how many superstars the Indians have had in their team, he goes a little bit under the radar.

No matter how many times people on here write off this team, tell us that this player or that player aren't good enough, this team regularly find a way to win.

If we can get 200 on the board it could be an interesting last day.

It’s a tough pitch to bat on and doesn’t look to be getting any easier.

Amazing result and Herculean effort from Stokes today as well as other valuable contributions. Time for them to get their feet up for a couple of days before on to OT. Already an iconic Test series and we still have two to go.

We don't want the openers to chuck their wicket away, that's all. Done incredibly well to win it with favourable bowling conditions, but could have made it a bit easier for ourselves!

Well isn’t that typical. Have the match on in the background while working from home and the win in clinched in the ten minutes I’m out of he house to pick my son up. Another cracking test match though!

There are some proper casuals in here!... As somebody who has been watching England for about 45 years, this is one of the most exciting test teams I can remember... I think some have forgotten how bad we were under Root and are failing to appreciate the improvement under Stokes in terms of playing style, confidence, results, and also in spotting talent... People seem to be desperate for us to fail, it is a very weird mentality that some 'fans' have!...

We have only lost 2 test series out of the last 13 under Stokes, and have discovered or introduced players like Atkinson and Carse. Bethell, Smith, Duckett, Brook and a few others who look like exciting talents... We are competitive again!... I think he has done miracles considering we have lost our two best fast bowlers ever and don't have a world-class spinner!... Even in this series, we are without our best bowler of the last few years in Atkinson, but are still 2-1 up!

I was thinking the same. Gets down to 15-20 needed and Jadeja probably going to try and hit a few boundaries rather than protecting No 11 all the time.

There's lots of good - no denying that.

The concern for me is the amount of losses vs the lack of draws, which will naturally happen with this highly aggressive style of play.

A slightly more measured approach in the second test could have seen us bat out a draw, and in a long test series, saving a draw is almost as good as a win, especially with regards to The Ashes and wanting to win the series outright.

The series record has been good - notably the recent win against New Zealand but it's also fair to say we have had some relatively straight forward series' in that run as well (Ireland, Zimbabwe, Windies, Sri Lanka not the team they once were) — it'll be a fairy sample size by the end of 2026 with a series down under and one in SA.

Pretty academic now, of course, but if Siraj had his wits and his bearings about him on that last delivery, could he have kicked the ball away as it trickled towards the stumps?
Think I read somewhere that providing a batsman has already hit the ball, (which he had) then he would be ok doing that.

Think I remember it happening in the past on a few occasions, but usually surrounded by controversy.

Glad he didn't, like. :D

Amazing days cricket today and the last hour yesterday. Our bowling attack looked right at it for spells which hasn’t always been said in this series so far, Archers pace is a difference maker.

Special mention to Jadeja, it was pretty much all on him and he almost got them home. Bumrah as well for rather annoyingly blocking for about 2 hours this afternoon

Let’s keep the balance, it’s a superb win and we shouldn’t loose sight of that, whilst accepting that we have to improve with the bat (some more than others). Not forgetting our 2nd Innings 192 included 32 extras as well.

I don’t think that would have been controversial, it’s perfectly legal. If he’d have stopped the ball with his hand or bat that’d be a different matter.

Bethell for Pope
Atkinson for Woakes
Dawson for Bashir

Probably won’t happen though. Wonder which of the next 2 Archer plays? Perhaps he’ll get tested for one.

It's absolutely OK to keep the ball off your stumps with foot if you've played the ball with bat, happens reasonably often. Siraj lost his concentration there, having played the ball down/slightly forwards he though the danger was over but it was spinning (not surprising given a spin bowler bowled it) and he didnt pay attention until it was too near his stumps to react. A bit unlucky also as the ball was barely moving enough to dislodge a bail.

Would you not have Tonguey back in for cleaning up the tail? Have Bethell in, but right now, for me, it would be for Bashir.

Hopefully, Atkinson is fit for the next test at OT, and I think Archer will be rested for that test.

This is a brilliant test series.
Plenty of aggro between the teams too.
I almost want India to win the next test top take it to a 5th test decider.

You’d think a proper spinner would be needed at Old Trafford.
Ahmed looks to be well in with the leaders rather than Dawson.

Crawley and Pope are a problem, even the people who are desperate to appear positive know that.
I think they’ve hung their hat on Crawley for Australia. Pope I’m not as sure.

Crawley has a poorer batting average in county cricket than he does in Test matches would you believe.

Dawson would be a fantastic option at number 8 in the line up.

Would give us some serious lower order batting strength
