If we can get 200 on the board it could be an interesting last day.

It’s a tough pitch to bat on and doesn’t look to be getting any easier.

Second favourites now England, Root wicket could be the clincher.

If Crawley goes to Australia, Hazlewood will be licking his lips as he will nick off early on with the airy fairy off side game he has.

Be interesting to see if Pant is picked for next Test and is allowed to bat both innings but replaced by their better wicket keeper as they have done on this test .
India should be made to play both in their starting line up

They'll be wanting a different ball again too, in the next few overs. :)

Absolutely senseless, what happened to the good old protecting your wicket, just playing a sensible innings with a straight bat.

Might be just me, but Joe has looked a bit 'off' from the off, today.
Only saying that because it's so rare you get that feeling, with him.

I find it incredibly frustrating viewing this, and it's not worth the occasional mental win against all odds.

Openers are there to see off the new ball and wear out the strike bowlers, giving a real platform for your middle order to rack up the runs.

The amount of pressure we put on our middle order to score around 250-300 is obscene. To be 4 wickets down in 23 overs, three of those wickets being self inflicted with daft shots is ridiculous.

You can get away with it against Zimbabwe, good luck against India or down under this winter. Frustrating.
Fear another whitewash down under.

A bit more in this pitch now. Just need to try & bat till the end of the day; 275+ will be a competitve score on the final day.

The Indian spinners are levels above ours. England need at least 100 from here still.

Reckon we need 300, or thereabouts.

I note Stuart Broad, when asked, keeps lowering the target he would be happy for India to chase in this game. His last estimate was 230.

Just crap. Ready for our bowlers (except Archer) to make this wicket look like a road. Bashir to give 3 boundary balls per over.

I wonder if this incoming defeat will be enough for the arrogant selectors to make some changes?

11 England batsmen have been bowled in the match- and a good chance of being 12 - the highest number in any Test for the last 65 years.

12 out bowled in one game is absolutely ridiculous. Deserve to lose this for the pathetic batting alone.

And there we go. 60% of batsmen out bowled. Technique?

Batters only get bowled if the bowlers bowl at the stumps. We have lost that art as far as I am concerned. It will be the usual mix of too short and too wide in the hope that we can buy wickets. We are unable to play Test cricket these days, with one or two exceptions.

In contrast to their numbers we had 0 bowled in the first innings.

Make the necessary changes to give the new lads two tests before Australia. Crawley, Pope, Bashir, Woakes out at the bare minimum.

No eggy face from me, still think Crawley, Pope and Bashir should be nowhere near the lineup. And funnily enough when you bowl at the stumps at Lords you can get wickets.

Brilliant, I'll be happy to be one of em, some comeback from England in this last hour or so, some day in store tomorrow. At last look to have some fire in their bellies.

Have to agree with Crawley and Bashir, was going to say earlier in the thread, just can't understand the persistence with Crawley, but Pope still has a bit in the bank. Nevertheless some comeback from the pacemen.

One bowled, two lbw and the other wicket down to a fast, short bowl which drew the batter into playing a poor shot. I am pleased that they have seen fit to bowl in a very sensible fashion and have got results. A good game to win from here.

Brilliant end to the day. Don't think it could be more perfectly poised.
Genuinely can't pick who is favourite here. One 3-wicket blast or a quick 50 wins the game.

Brilliant finish by England to give us a good chance tomorrow . Won't change my views on some poor shots by our batters , but it's certainly set up s good finish tomorrow . Must get Pant early.

Why don't they bowl the full last over rather than finishing the day when a wicket falls?

Definitely, that last wicket has possibly just swung it our way, had they just gone in with 3 down they were just favourites imo, so evenly poised. Shame we couldn't have finished the over, may have been 5 down.

If the wicket falls such that it goes past the finishing time by the time the new batsman come in then they just bring it to an end. It’s been like that as long as I’ve been watching cricket.
