I don't think that will happen. I think we'll lose 3-4 to 'balance the books' and anybody on loan-to-buy if we were to stay up, but think the majority we'll keep, plus have another solid transfer window and be very strong again.

If he's in the match day squad (hopefully not) he'll be at the game till at least 8pm, so would be cutting it fine, depending on check-in rules at the airport.

I would imagine it's to give him to get his stuff together.
Should be a fairly major signing for us.

Walker, Dubravka and Tuanzebe signed a one year contract for a reason.ollieclarets8 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 3:58 pmI don't think that will happen. The likes of Hartman, Lesley, Tchaoun, Broja and Florentino wouldn't want to play in the Championship.

Walker could easily play another season in the Championship; think he'd stay.
Hartman, Lesley, Tchaoun, Broja and Florentino - I don't know if they'd play in the Championship or not. I think there's a chance they would.

I'm not sure what the alternative is, there.
The chances are both will still happen. I don't know what we can do to deal with that issue and still get players who are good enough.

Anyway back to this season and some links for the last 26 hours…
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Not sure about that. It's well worth discussing, on a transfer thread that is clearly supposed to be about rumoured players only, which of our existing players will leave if we get relegated, especially in August after just three league games.Steve-Harpers-perm wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 4:44 pmAnyway back to this season and some links for the last 26 hours…

Been on the bench so far this season hence why he’s coming to us. Seems strange if he’s flying over here tonight with a deal already agreed.

Makes even less sense if he has spent most of recent games on bench

You're right. Apologies. Looked at their line up for his surname but they had him down as Florentino instead

The game is 10 mins away from Lisbon Airport which is the airport on the flight photo from morninbob earlier.
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
I'd say Dubravka is a year as he's getting older and we have high hopes for Weiss. Tuanzebe is more than likely our offer to him based on his terrible injury record.
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
It's nothing that strange - for example Hincapie was on the bench for Leverkusen yesterday although everything's agreed between Arsenal and them.

If he’s on a private jet then I’m sure the security/passport checks will be a lot smoother and quicker than they are for the likes of us at Manchester.Darnhill Claret wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 4:09 pmIf he's in the match day squad (hopefully not) he'll be at the game till at least 8pm, so would be cutting it fine, depending on check-in rules at the airport.

I’d imagine a few of our star players would be offered loans to top tier Espanyol should we be relegated which would hopefully help break the cycle of mass player exodus’s.

You need to explain how that would fund another serious promotion attempt.

Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Like last year we didn’t need our better players to achieve promotion. In this new scenario we’d push them out for the year, Espanyol pays the wages and on promotion they have choice of a return.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 6:25 pmYou need to explain how that would fund another serious promotion attempt.
We’d still then have the nucleus of a squad more than capable of having a good go at the champ.
Odd one wouldn’t fancy that and are sold to cover the shortfall in income.
Or something along those lines.
Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
Depends if there is a need to fund it.boatshed bill wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 6:25 pmYou need to explain how that would fund another serious promotion attempt.
Get the top earners off the wage book on loan to Espanyol with a view they return if promoted. One or two big time Charlie's to sell and hopefully retain a core squad with the likes of Flemming, Hannibal, Weiss, Anthony, Cullen, Laurent, Roberts, Pires, Humphreys all staying. I would say depending on the business between now and in January we could still have 40 players on the books.
You'd hope we wouldn't have to rebuild as much as previously if relegated.

Not a link but in answer to what’s been mentioned above - after what happened last summer, I would hope that we’ve had a chat with everyone we have just signed along the lines of “we might well go down so where would that leave us” before we agreed the deal.

If the Benfica lad is signing tomorrow it doesnt add up that he is playing for his parent club tonight.

Just watched Luis play the last 20 minutes. Didn't look like he got injured, so hopefully all good. He seemed bigger than when I'd seen him on YouTube highlights. Didn't stop running but also didn't have much of the ball as Benfica were defending a lead with 10 men. Off to get your flight you go!

It sounds like an obligation to buy, rather than option to buy, which was the case with Zeki.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Sun Aug 31, 2025 8:51 pmTo be fair this is a loan deal for this season. (I assume similar to Amdouni where there’s a deal to sign him at the end of it, if we want to).
In that sense I can see why he played today.
He’s our player, and for a possible club record £22m.
