Tactics so disappointing
Overall played well. And deserved to win. But at one nil they were always a threat.
Hendrick played better but has zero confidence in the final third. I.e. number 10. Vokes shouldve been on. Always does well against the team he supports.
We shouldve freshened it up but again tried to protect what we had.

Listening to ClaretsPlayer and the commentators were really unimpressed most of the game.

Hendrick worked hard, but to say he played better is a lie. He has played much better in a deeper role recently.
I do think Cork and Westwood had good games in the holding roles though, and was great to see Ward back - he was fantstic today.

Re: Tactics so disappointing
Played well? I thought the highlight was the half time music, summed up the game when ''cheer up sleepy jean'' came on. Half the crowd fell asleep of boredom. Negative hoofball and another home game with flat football and no atmosphere.

The lack of subs cost us the game, we did nothing to stop the pressure Saints were trying to put us under. Shite from Dyche

It's disappointing really that Dycheball has completely sucked out the excitement from the crowd, it feels like we're playing in an empty stadium.

Re: Tactics so disappointing
No subs is baffling. We were shite for the majority of the game. Hendrick was much better today and drove forward more like a number 10 however, like the rest of the team lacked any kind of end product.
We look decent right up until the final third where we are devoid of ideas.
Brady's loss is huge and i think it has affected the whole team.

Complete yawnfest. **** tactics and not to use any subs is just ********. We didn't win today because of Dyche, not the ref.

Dyche got it so wrong. Players out of position players on pitch who have been poor for weeks one up front at home and no creativity no subs. I rate Dyche for all he has done for us but today was inexcusable.

I think the problem is we hardly ever score more than one, so we're hanging onto one goal leads as the opposition are pressing more men forward towards the end of games.

We are going a little more direct, because of the personnel we're missing through injury, but the tactics aren't significantly different, particularly from the Watford and Stoke wins that took us up to fourth.watsonsclarets wrote:I think weare going alittle longer and direct at the minute infact i know we are.

Too predictable and easy to play against. Seems impossible to score 2 at home. More long ball shite from dyche next week.

I'm still in shock how negative SD has made us play.
Soton were there for the taking and we somewhat went for a 1 nill win!!! Don't know why we do this

Because of Dyche, we are now 11 without a win. Wouldn't it make a refreshing change if we actually tried to win a game.Sidney1st wrote:On the flip side Murger we are 7th because of Dyche.

I really don't understand managers.
You'd think, with us virtually safe, that the manager would take the opportunity to try a few things out.

It's almost as if the order we get the results is more important than the results themselves.

Re: Tactics so disappointing
We had the excuses when the bad run started that we were playing the top teams. This is true. But now, we are playing the likes of Swansea and Southampton and still setting up not to lose. What's all that about?

No, I watched it on an HD stream. Of course that probably makes my opinion invalid in your eyes, but it's on the match day thread.KRBFC wrote:Did you attend today? How about you tell me your thoughts about the game instead of waffling excuses and papering over cracks.
Re: Tactics so disappointing
That was absolute crap...embarrassing tactics. Why Sean didn't change it is extremely frustrating..even to waste some time. Really feel for Hendrick, this lad clearly doesn't feel comfortable with his role, and is a big miss in his natural position....never a No10 in a million years. Only one person who gave that away today and it wasn't the bloke with the whistle.

Re: Tactics so disappointing
I am beginning to wonder where all the bullish confidence has gone, and why. I know we've had a run of injuries and not won for a while but we've still done alright... blooded a top keeper and sit higher in the table than anyone dreamt possible a few months ago. It's time everyone from SD down to the fans got a smile back on there faces and on their boots!

Re: Tactics so disappointing
Dismal stuff from two teams short on confidence. The draw was about right.
Our football is generally awful stuff to watch, season peaked in December. Earlier in the season we had a lot of luck that meant we fell on the right side of performances like today, not anymore- in desperate need of a plan B.

Re: Tactics so disappointing
I absolutely acknowledge that Dyche has been fantastic for Burnley, but he is without negative when it comes to the attacking side of the game. He absolutely loves a 1-0 nil win, but that is costing us as we are clearly vulnerable to conceding that slender lead or turning an away point into a loss by trying to hang on.
We should of won today and more than likely would of done had Dyche taken a more positive approach. Clearly needed to make a couple of changes and wrap the game up rather once again hope that the 1-0 was enough.
As brilliant as our start to the season was, we are clearly showing relegation form. Thankfully we are safe, but very disappointing that Dyche can't bring himself to be braver in his approach to games.

We didn't play badly at all, but we did need to change it when it was getting stale.. ok we scored but we should have gone for the kill and walked away with a comfortable 2 or 3 nill win.
I can't fathom why SD kept it as it was??

So in other words if we were heading towards league 1 you'd still be harping on about Dyche had us up to 4th in the premier league. We should be pushing on with confidence instead of this boring, negative football that he insists on playing now.Tall Paul wrote:I like to look at the bigger picture rather than individual games or runs of games and my opinion is that we're exceeding all expectations this season.
