I agree hamps, but do have a little sympathy. Just imagine how sad, pathetic and lonely their lives must be, that they have to seek pleasure on the forum of a successful team like Burnley.
If they weren't badgering us it would be the Samaritans.

30 million for Pickford wasn't it? I suggest we start at that figure.

We wouldn't get the same amount simply because Pickford has more caps for England.

Always start at you’re highest figure, you’ll rarely be able to push the price up.
For us I actually think he’s worth £100 million.

Devils_'Advocaat' Lord Beamish ? - I've heard of Dick Advocaat (some Dutch bloke apparently)? but perhaps you're on to something and this is a more appropriate usernamer for Devils_Advocate, under the circumstances? Made me chuckle anyway.

Are you saying we would get more than £30m ?
As I not sure Pickford had played for England when he was sold for £30m (I maybe wrong)

How many caps did Pickford have when signing for Everton for £30m? Without looking it up my guess is zero.
The person who said we'd be lucky to get £15m for Pope is a complete bellend.

Based on the statistics of England youth team players making it in the senior leagues in the last 30 years that should have brought his value down !
In all seriousness that is a completely meaningless stat. Pickford had one good season for an awful Sunderland team and was sold for £30m...which looking at him now feels about right in this market
Pope has had a better season than Pickford did at Sunderland and the market has moved on at least 15% (probably more) so a starting price of £35m looks the minimum

And then possibly I'd start talking.

In my opinion, Pope will, unfortunately, be off to pastures new after the World Cup. I believe the club will feel Heaton, if first choice, will not leave the club. Pope, on the other hand, with no real connection to the club, would be a `risk` for the club to keep as if his progress continues (doesn`t all progress???) he will sought out by some top clubs and gone after another season. I hope Pope doesn`t leave though as I think he is a brilliant keeper (as is Heaton).
I can see Pope going to Arsenal (less sure now though because of Emri) as a replacement for Cech or to a team like West Ham or Newcastle (not better clubs but...well, don`t know what). IF De Gea left United I could see Pope going there too.
Regardless, he is a 25 million pound keeper.

No chance because Man U. would want a keeper similar in standard to De Gea who is arguably the best in the world.
Pope isn't close to that level!

England international, probably around another 10 years left in him, just had a blinding season, 2-3 years remaining on contract... for £15 million?
I can only assume, if they did bid that, it will include some huge extras thrown in, depending on appearances for club and country.

Whatever the outcome of this (and none of us know if there's anything in it) there is no way Pope's going anywhere on the cheap.
What is for certain though is our club have purchased several players for next to nowt recently, developed them into International standard footballers and could sell them, if necessary (which at this moment in time, it isn't) for upward of £100,000,000 (I'm thinking Tarks, Mee, Pope, JGB, etc). What a fantastic position we are in.
Can we please just enjoy these times without the usual ramblings and moaning we sometimes we get on here.

To be honest I am not surprised, yes the valuation is laughable, but we are going to get a a lot of this sort of stuff during the summer. Comes with the price for collective and individual success at our club. I would also be very surprised to see us with 2 current England goalkeepers at our club next season and would expect Pope to be the one that moves on.

I understand your point and it is incredibly valid but I see Mourinho focused more elsewhere in the team to improve dynamism, especially in the midfield. FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS!!!

It’s surely a starting offer only. Liverpool will know they’re probably going to need to pay around £25m but it clearly wouldn’t be in their interests to offer that amount from the get go. It’s like bartering in a souk. You offer very low to start with. Pope hasn’t yet been tested in front of a defence playing behind a more expansive system than Burnley play. Yes he’s played to his maximum potential ( distribution aside) but he has been protected by Burnley’s system of play for most of the season. Personally I’d take £25m if it’s offered and re invest in a striker.

I'm not actually sure if you genuinely think that Burnley had a poor season and weren't worth watching, or if you are simply carrying out your supposed "Devil's Advocate" persona by which you think you are obliged to disagree with everything, no matter how obvious. Well, to give you some material to work with, the sun rises in the East, tomorrow is Monday, and Burnley have had a good season.

Forgot all that guff about his meteoritic rise from obscurity to becoming one the top performing keepers who has made unbelievable saves/ commands the penalty/ catches difficult crosses/ helped us win (?) however many points, etc, etc and now finds himself on the verge of a World Cup. Just stop it and forget all that. Cos Devils Advocate quite rightly keeps highlighting the fact he cant kick the ball.
Actually Pope can kick the ball a very long way - when he catches hold of it right. But not always the case.
He certainly can catch the ball though

Pope is a class act.If Southgate wasnt so blinkered and look at the actual Premiership stats this season he would see Nick is the best English keeper on current form.Pickford played in the U21 but that doesn't guarantee any step up will be seamless.
Nick has just signed a new deal and it would need a massive bid £40m + to get us even interested in talking

It's simple we don't need to sell. We don't want to sell.
Stick a £70m price tag on him and if anyone is stupid enough to pay that then so be it.

You think a manager should pick players based on stats? Good idea. Don't bother turning up for games Gareth, just look on sky sports stats page. That's the way to manage..

We’ve got 2 England keepers so we could let Tom go for £40m. That should keep everyone happy.

If we had to forfeit one of the keepers i would pick Tom purely on age grounds, great luxury to have though, ideally we'll get a bidding war between some of the top 6,Arsenal and Liverpool look the likeliest pair most desperate for a solid shot-stopper.
