Maybe, just maybe....... it was the 28th straight game with Trafford starting in goal that pushed him over the edge? It did me.

4 or 5 years ago I'd have been glad to see him go.
But now his experience is exactly what our young team needs.
Welcome back JBG.

The best bosses in world football will have coaches and assistants that tell them when they don't agree with something and they'll be the ones that aren't stubborn enough to ignore advice
Re: JBG
Why? He was one of the worst strikers in the league the last time he played here. What has changed?

Oh and it's not a boss - that's a dictator.

Re: JBG
The ‘Boss’ is actually Alan Pace and the board of directors, they pay bellamys wage not kompany.
I’m sure kompany in his football career has done his fair share of not agreeing with people and voiced what he didn’t agree on

And just goes to show that it was bad down at the Turf near end of last season and maybe if Mr Pace had made a decision at Xmas time we might have just stayed up ...
Re: JBG
Right. That's not how it works in any other job. Your boss isn't one of the directors is it. It's your line manager, in this case Bellamy's was Kompany and if it's true that he started questioning Kompany infront of his players it is beyond unprofessional and I'm surprised he was allowed to stay through to the end of the season123EasyasBFC wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 4:29 pmThe ‘Boss’ is actually Alan Pace and the board of directors, they pay bellamys wage not kompany.

It’s not like any other job, you can’t criticise Bellamy for voicing an opinion if he didn’t think things were right. If he didn’t feel like he could voice an opinion then that’s not a healthy environment to be inGoliath wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 4:38 pmRight. That's not how it works in any other job. It’s it’s not publicly, in the sense of what everyone else would class publicly as. Ten hag criticised sancho publicly by speaking in his press conference.

Kompany knew Bellamy and brought him to the club. He knew his character and temperament. He would have expected Craig to speak up but maybe his ego didn't allow him to accept an alternative view to his own.

Too old at 34?
Just played centre midfield against England's finest.
And won.
And he's re-signed for us.
Happy days.

That is the post of the day, to accompany the wonderful news of Gudmundsson 's return. Thank you.BigGaz wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 2:02 pmJBG, brought up in a country with a huge life expectancy, where they're taught to live well and not to take things too seriously. He was ours until the end of June. He probably had a long hols, after 2 internationals, captaining his country. Today is 6 July. No time lost.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 11:46 amExcuse me for being a cynic, because I liked JBG and he has been a fabulous player for us, but this sounds to me that his agent has in 6 or 7 weeks been unable to find him a new club, and contact been made with ourselves by him or his agent-he may be even training with us in the absence of not having another club.We had posters on here saying he could easily find a PL club. With our squad size, for me I think this would be a backward step as you are denying progress in many of the wide players we have if he plays, and even the likes of Ramsey and Massengo could be denied opportunities

Bellamy left thinking he was joining kompany at BM & BM put the block on that leaving him with little choice other than coming back. I'm glad JBG is staying on but let's not pretend he wasn't waiting for other offers which didn't materialise hence the change of mind. Don’t know what you do (or did) but I work in a sales environment. It’s a little like sports in that there is a team mentality. We are encouraged to challenge management decisions if we can put forward a better way of doing things. But of course, you need to be able to frame it right (positively) and not subsequently sulk if declinedGoliath wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 4:38 pmRight. That's not how it works in any other job. Re: JBG
What brilliant news. Couldn't believe last night when I read it. Was sick when he wasn’t offered a new contract but that was probably down to Kompany. Love the guy.
As for the ongoing argument about Kompany and Bellamy, what has that got to do with is thread. Start another one for that and leave this for the good news.

All I've asked of you is to explain how JBG resigning "shows how toxic things had become".Clive 1960 wrote: ↑Sat Jul 06, 2024 11:48 pmThey both left and came back, don't you think that's unusual..
That was your claim in your OP. Surely you have something to back it up?
Re: JBG
All I’d say is try to be considerate of others when you post on this public forum. You might believe that getting involved in “petty arguments” is what this forum is all about, as you’ve just demonstrated, but most would prefer that such things were left in the playground, I think.
Try to have a good day today, anyway, pal. Be kind to someone, and if that makes me a snowflake, so be it.

Re: JBG
I must confess I am surprised we have re-signed JBG, because of the sheer size of the squad that needs culling down to the size a Championship club can support. We have a massive task on our hands, with so many fringe players not good enough to help support a promotion push. I cannot see JBG playing many games as we have currently at least 6 wide players, and JBG lacks the pace as an inverted winger. In central midfield we have Berge, Cullen, Brownhill, Messengo, Ramsey, before we even consider Egan Riley & Bastian. On a positive I sense from this post that him staying has been very positively received amongst our fans, and hopefully this has the same impact with the playing squad, and help ensure unity with the arrival of our new manager. We just need to ensure that sentiment does not have too much influence in retaining players who realistically are not likely to get playing time in the new season
Re: JBG
I doubt we'll have six wide players at the end of the transfer window but, in any case, JBG could well play centrally, as you suggest. But surely he's ahead of some of the players you mention, some of them play a deeper role than JBG would, Egan Riley is a defender and Ramsey remains injured. Gudmundsson has plenty to offer next season, sentiment aside.warksclaret wrote: ↑Sun Jul 07, 2024 10:14 amI must confess I am surprised we have re-signed JBG, because of the sheer size of the squad that needs culling down to the size a Championship club can support.
