Re: Tresor / Shelvey chant
If we were wrong about the situation, why has Alan said he’s fit and available to play, that he’d like to see him playing for us and we should start a “writing campaign”, told a poster privately that he can’t promise him he wants to play for us? And why has Parker given zero reason for his continued absence, why has the club done nothing whatsoever to better inform fans since the song started?quoonbeatz wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 3:29 pmAnd what if you’re wrong about the situation? Still a good message?
I’d say it’s highly unlikely fans have got the wrong end of the stick on this one, and if they have it’s very definitely due to lack of/poor communication from club.

Re: Tresor / Shelvey chant
Well, y’know, he has actually played for us since Pace said that but I’d take anything Pace says at those fluff sessions, especially ‘off the record’ with a big spoon of salt. If he was refusing to play it’d be a bit weird to be suddenly schlepping to Reading to sit on the bench for what was largely a reserve game.NewClaret wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 3:38 pmIf we were wrong about the situation, why has Alan said he’s fit and available to play, that he’d like to see him playing for us and we should start a “writing campaign”, told a poster privately that he can’t promise him he wants to play for us? Either way, there’s no official word so none of us know what’s really going on, which is my point, there’s no ‘evidence’ either way.
Anyway, enough time spent on this now, I can’t say I’m arsed about Tresor but certainly not enough to start a song about how much I don’t care.

Putting the whole tresor issue to one side, I’ve always found it weird which players we decide to sing about and which ones we don’t.
Find it a bit cringey that the main song sung to celebrate last night was about a player that has only just signed, who no-ones’s sure is actually still any good yet, only played 10 mins and didn’t score!
Especially when we’ve long serving players like Cullen and Brownhill (who was great when he came on and scored!) neither of whom have a decent song.
Then there’s esteve and cj that are arguably our best players and also don’t have decent songs…. as I say, just find it weird.
Been the case for years though, can remember it happening with defour (before he actually had an injury free run in the team) getting his name sung all game when he wasn’t even in the squad!

Re: Tresor / Shelvey chant
I must admit I thought it was odd how much more densely packed the away end of that stand was lacked than the home end.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 2:38 pmTbh last night was a reminder with the full away end of that ridiculous situation where the half of the stand full of away fans is allowed to be more packed, and thus more atmospheric, than the home half. Would think solving that would be a club priority rather than moaning about atmosphere.
As for the chant, my long predicted Mikey situation is a form of rehabilitation that is hard to diagnose, e.g. a long covid, ME, side effects type of thing. If he had the rumoured illness then some kind of delayed side effect is very possible. Thus some in the club may feel he should be fit but the player feels he struggles. If that is the case it makes the chant not good at all, but the player always has the right to clarify anything, and he has chosen not to, something I am not convinced is in his best interests.

Poor do slating one of own without any info on his injury or mental state. I he fact we have a song for a player who’s played about 1 and a half games total for us and none for Cullen or Robert’s shoes how clueless most our fans are.

And if Tresor hasn't and is genuinely ill, now would be a good time to come clean.
However, at the fans forum Alan clearly stated that Tresor had been available for selection for some time, but wasn't playing and he wasn't sure if he would again.
I doubt very much it is illness right now, and if it is, he can tell us about it as other players have.

If you can’t see how good the lad is despite his lack of minutes, perhaps football isn’t for you. When someone’s THAT good, Stevie Wonder can see it. Widely reported he wouldn't be allowed to leave in Jan by Alan unless he played for us again, so the week later he plays for 10 mins (created a goal), then end of Jan came and suddenly he is ill again.
I think everyone is so frustrated because we know what he could bring. But he has no intention of bringing it with us.
Re: Tresor / Shelvey chant
We must be the 49th * team in the league to adopt that song, and the first to aim it at a current player.
Much that I dislike man u entitlement, singing this song about the glazers has got to be justified. The "interview" with one of them in the street this week just proved it. Far to important to say anything to man u fans, he was "on his way for a meeting with the president." I'm guessing that their president is impressed with the way that they have bought something with someone else's money, now get their plebs to pay them for keeping it, and still make a mint out of it even though they have entirely trashed the product.
The Donald is working out a way to repeat that feat, just with a whole country.

What better way to let a player know you don't care about him by talking about him and singing about him.

Re: Tresor / Shelvey chant
Pretty pathetic that people sit down and go to the trouble of writing a song like this.
Even more pathetic for those who choose to join in.
Nobody knows what’s gone on with Tresor. As already said about Alan Pace he’s like a giddy child when someone puts a tv camera or microphone in front of him.
If we are going to have a song about every Burnley player who we might think is not giving their all to the club then there is going to be a hell of a lot of songs slagging off our players. Look at half the team last season planning their departures before the season ended. Or those who are rumoured to being seeing their contracts out this season.
Or why not sing a song about Alan Pace and taking tens of millions out of the club, putting up season ticket prices by more than any other owner in the last 50 years…..it wouldn’t be difficult to write something catchy that rhymes with greedy midget,….widget ?
Or best of all let’s not sing disparaging songs about any of our players, staff or even owners whilst we are trying to win games.

I'll not be singing along with this one in its current form.
Tresor is still one of our players and nobody on the outside knows his situation for sure. If it is as serious a health condition as has been suggested (and the rumour I heard suggests it's one of the worst ones) then the fans slagging him off isn't going to do him any good and makes us look like morons.

Absolutely! Regardless of whether the chant makes us look silly or not, there's no doubting Tresor has had our pants down since the day he stepped into Turf Moor. He may well have an illness that's keeping him out, but what's the excuse for last season? He should have been one of the first names on the teamsheet. As it was, he ambled around the pitch when called upon, offering very little. VK chose to play pretty much anyone else ahead of him, and that says it all. What a waste of talent.forzagranata wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 8:53 pmThe idea that Mike Tresor is "one of our own" takes the biscuit on this bizarre thread.
