Re: Summer 2025 BFC Transfer Window - Links and discussion on the Linked player only.
For me, it's the best opportunity for us to stay up that we've had since the early Dyche days - many teams in and around our level have lost their best players (Wolves, Brentford) teams above our level but not quite elite look to have lost a step (Brighton, Villa) and even the top, top teams don't appear to be quite the force that they were 3-4 years ago.
I'm aware they've had replacements, but there's no guarantee that it'll be plug and play for them.
Then factor in the number of clubs playing European competition, rookie managers/poor managerial fits (Brentford, West Ham), then it's starting to look a top opportunity for us.
Taking a measured gamble now makes sense. UTC!

Yeah I’m in the same boat. I’m just waiting for the article saying it’s a load of rubbish.RVclaret wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 9:34 pmI think the strategy involves knowing these type of players get sold if we go down. There’s a confidence we can make good money back, and so it reduces the risk. Course you can end up with an Amdouni where no one wants to buy, but equally a Koleosho/Odobert/Berge who raise £70m very easily. Saints have sold Dibling and Fernandes to the Prem for a combined £85m despite being the second worst team ever in the Prem!
That said, I’m taking the Mikautadze link with a pinch of salt at the moment. That fee seems a bit too high to be honest.

Nice pressure though.willsclarets wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 9:31 pmMikautadze and Luis would be borderline insane if we got them both. We'd be under a bit of pressure to stay up after that financial outlay!

Sky now reporting the deal for Florentino Luis is done club to club.
The deal is a loan plus an obligation to buy, with the total fee believed to be worth £21.6m (€25m).

Why can’t all 3 of them play together? Look at Newcastle, for example. Their midfield 3 are considered ‘number 8’ but they all play in the same team.
Also could play a 5-3-2 with Anthony taking the RWB role.

Showing to me importance to Scott of being good defensively and his ability to adapt
The players we have brought in alongside these two new potential names gives him so many options-a back 3 or 4 , two defensive midfielders
His ultimate challenge with so many good footballers is finding his strongest 11.What a problem to have

It’s going to be one busy deadline day.
Benson
Tresor
Delcroix
Worrall
Hladky
Churlinov
All these you could envisage moving on.

Agree, but I think Worrall might stay as cover, and to come on late in a game to retain a lead. Obefemi to add to your listgandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 10:13 pmIt’s going to be one busy deadline day.

Green already moved out so Hdlaky will be staying unless we sign another keeper.gandhisflipflop wrote: ↑Thu Aug 28, 2025 10:13 pmIt’s going to be one busy deadline day.

There could also be some surprises moving out if we manage to sign the afore mentioned targets.

Just heard the links and am chuckling about queries where he would fit in with Josh ahead of him. I like Josh a lot, but this kid is a real player, could easily be signed by a top 8 club, which in all honesty Josh cannot. He hasn’t a full Portugese cap yet so maybe he isn’t quite at the top level but he is genuine Champion’s League pedigree.
Put it this way, he starts every game. A bit like Makalele. Not overly quick but stops everything and distributes.
Feels to me that Zeki may have put a word in for us. If so, that loan last year could be a blessing.
I’m not even getting started on Mikautadze. I had to do his famous spectacles goal celebration just to check I was reading the report right
. Cannot accept we have a chance.
Sounds like Don Pace has decided following two or three established teams looking weak like West Ham and Wolves, to go “all in”. Well done him, because these players would have resale value and I like the risk / reward.

No idea if there’s any truth in this but I’ve heard from a pretty reliable source that these deals have only been made possible on the back of the increased fan zone revenue taken directly from the cricket club.

Will always be surreal to me that little old Burnley are beating giants like Roma and Marseille to buy players from giants like Benfica.

Sheff Utd, Derby and Stoke interested. It would be a shame to see him go tbh although I suspect his minutes will be limited if we get the lad in from Benfica.

Be a real shame I really like Laurent.. may be limited for mins but think we can still afford to hold him - one injury to anyone and we'd definitely still need him on the bench.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 29, 2025 1:18 amSheff Utd, Derby and Stoke interested. At least we've been able to give him a start and a valuable minutes in a win in the PL, it was a good story.

Guess he'd want to play given his age, I'd keep him personally for the reasons you just mentionedCoolClaret wrote: ↑Fri Aug 29, 2025 1:24 amBe a real shame I really like Laurent.. may be limited for mins but think we can still afford to hold him - one injury to anyone and we'd definitely still need him on the bench.
