My guess is, "You've got to remember we haven't won a tournament since 1966 so it's no use pretending we're a world class side or imagining we can become one overnight. We've made lots of progress, I thought we started very brightly but lack a bit of forward momentum and they get three breakaways and then the games out of sight."

Considering the standard of opposition I am struggling to remember a worse home performance from an England team.

Ramsdale with his feckin eyes shut. How is this fella picked over Pope? Apart from the fact he plays for Arsenal…

playing pass in your own half for seventy five minutes has been shown to be not the greatest tactic to win a football match.

I fully get it, tonight’s a joke bordering on disgrace.Vegas Claret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:31 pmit's not Wolves fans, there are people from all over the Country there. I don't think they were booing Maguire but Southgate's decision to bring on a defender whilst being 0-3 down at home to the might of Hungary
I just feel that tonight’s atmosphere could produce more lasting damage than a terrible loss in a non entity tournament ever would.
I get that they’re not all Wolves fans, I just meant the Molineux crowd as a whole really. I’m not defending the team to be absolutely clear, I just think we had reached a Euro 96 level connection with this squad in the last two tournaments and things like tonight take me back to the days when Rooney was swearing at the England fans as he walked off under Cappello etc.

Re: England vs Hungary
Only hope Southgate resigns or gets sacked. It's the only good thing that can come out of a performance like that.
It was a classic Southgate performance. Just like watching his old 'Boro side.
He really is THAT bad.

Re: England vs Hungary
I wont criticise pre-season friendlies, never been my style. I think many are taking this nations league stuff way too seriously, tonight has been woeful however. Hungary's first 11 at 100%, England's C team at 30% and the game looks like this. This tournament shouldn't exist in the first place, top players have spoken out against it.
He will be judged at the WC and Euros and in qualification. If this was a WC game, he should be gone tonight but it's not. Was it France who lost to Kazakhstan in a pre-season friendly just before the WC they won?

Re: England vs Hungary
Its not about ‘taking it seriously’ or not. Other teams have been up for it and frankly looked threatening to score some goals. We’ve been absolutely s*** in all 4 games. I can’t remember ever seeing worse performances in an international break from us.KRBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:36 pmI wont criticise pre-season friendlies, never been my style. Re: England vs Hungary
It matters because we are likely to be relegated to Lge B now and play a lot less challenging teams, where we will flatter to deceive again. These are not meaningless games as they have consequences for the next tournament in terms of opponentsKRBFC wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:36 pmI wont criticise pre-season friendlies, never been my style. Over 6 without a goal from open play.
Imagine having all that talent at your disposure and barely being able to craft a shot on goal?

End of the game booing for a 0-4 home loss to **** like Hungary, totally agree with you.Somethingfishy wrote: ↑Tue Jun 14, 2022 9:39 pmI think they reacted perfectly understandably considering what they were witnessing.
Mid game chanting ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ at 0-2 at the manager who in the last four years has got us to a World Cup Semi and a European Championships Final is a bit much for me.

The England players should wear the big girls' haircuts with far more pride. Already on the beach. Feel sorry for the goalie - he must feel bad.

I think this is a cunning plan by Southgate to lower the expectations for the World Cup. Then if we make it out of the group he can say how well we have done.

Re: England vs Hungary
I think Southgate definitely needs to pick more wildcards, that no one is expecting, and right backs. That’ll prove once and for all that he’s the greatest manager ever and knows better than us plebs before we decimate Iran, draw with USA and crash out to the Taffs in November.
