Re: Next manager
Bugger, he wouldn't say if he's spoken with them already but did put his hat in the ring and said he would like to take the job, mentioned he had got a side to prem previously and that burnley had a good squad and money to spend and possibly in a better postion than Leicester was last year to get back up. Also said we had good owners
My thoughts from that is yes he has spoken to the club

Didn't rule it out, said it was something he'd be very interested in doing and wouldn't confirm if he'd held talks or notgingerstudios wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:19 amPardew on talk sport next about the rumours linking him to burnley job

Re: Next manager
Of course Pardew would say he would take the job. As would any manager who hasn't had a job in this country for more than 5 years and wants back in.
I would be amazed if anyone at the club thought Pardew was the answer, this all seems to to stem from someone on twitter who wants to be a journalist making a comment.

Re: Next manager
It's interesting Pardew didn't rule himself out so maybe there's something in those rumors. I still can't believe anyone would be stupid enough to actually give him a job. Lampard and Parker look like Pep Guardiola all of a sudden.
Re: Next manager
Doesn't ring true that Bellamy would have left and then been given acting coach job.dsr wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 10:17 amThe problem with that article is that assuming that Bellamy has not gone with Kompany because he's a front runner at Burnley, becomes a nonsense if it's true that Bellamy had left Burnley immediately after the end of the season. Predictions based on false assumptions are worthless.
Was it confirmed by the club that Bellamy had left?

Re: Next manager
Pardew has a couple of promotions and FA Cup finals behind him and also did ok at Newcastle when they were a comedy club. Far better qualified than Lampard but his experience is a bit dated. So would be far from the worst candidate we could choose.
Re: Next manager
Surely if Pardew was in talks about the job he wouldn't go on talksport to chat about it? That he has done so reassures me that we're not actively considering him, at least not yet.
Sounds like a throwing of hat in the ring to me.

Can’t stand Pardew. I’d hope this is just TalkSPORT drumming up the numbers.

Re: Next manager
Maybe I am giving ALK too much credit here, but if you knew that Lampard (for example) was going to be a very divisive appointment - would you not think of leaking a far, far worse option to the media (such as Pardew) to suddenly make the ones on the negative suddenly a bit more positive...?

There are lots of good managers out there who would jump at the chance to manage us.

Re: Next manager
It does if Bellamy left because he'd come to the end of the line with VK and they couldn't see eye to eye anymore, but then almost immediately VK is leaving for Munich and so the landscape is entirely different. (Maybe?)

The likes of Pardew (decent enough in their time) were a busted flush ages ago. There's better and far more enthusiastic and creative choices out there. (But not Lampard and not Rooney)

Re: Next manager
Surely no truth in Alan Pardew being a runner. In his last English job-WBA, he was a disaster with a 14% win ratio, and that was 7 years ago. It would be like bringing John Major back as the new PM.
Some of the names being mentioned are starting to make some of the early mentioned names like Mark Robins and Steve Cooper look good

Re: Next manager
For those who missed it, this is Pardew a few years back at Den Haag. Things were going so badly that a group of fans turned up to training carrying a whiteboard and proceeded to explain how tactics worked to Pardew and the team:

It shows how time flies that I remember my Grandma saying that Major seemed like a good chap and would be the next PM, and she died 33 years ago.warksclaret wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 1:02 pmTotally agree-one of my favorite PM's. Only used him as an example of "unlikeliness"

Pardew was in the Kettledrum Sunday afternoon, soon left because there were no seats, they were all being held for regulars who weren't there

Never said or inferred Cooper & Robins were bad-maybe I did not word it well. But the more I hear names like Pardew mentioned , for me the more it elevates the value of the two managers I mentioned. Personally for me Cooper would have been my first choice, Robins I could live with too

Just keep thinking how brave the new LC manager needs to be. Surely we want the new manager to really want the job here rather than it being a money move (appreciate that’s often a factor).claretspice wrote: ↑Tue Jun 04, 2024 3:29 pmYes I'm quite happy to wait and throw money at whichever is left over once Leicester have finished.

Re: Next manager
if you thought you had a chance of working in the PL or the Championship you would hold out for the PL job and maybe drop if you didn't - that's just common sense.
