Re: Summer transfer window
A massive statement signing that. All well and good Sunderland and Leeds spending money on talent from overseas but this is a guy who was won the PL numerous times, all the cups, Champions League, performed on the international stage for years and is even still part of the set up. The experience alone is worth 2 years wages let alone the clear talent he still has.
Well done to all involved.

Surely it's only a matter of time before their U 21s follows the Women's team. The Venkys will need to start cutting the cloth soon.Guller Bull wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 4:27 pmRovers in competition with us fro a prolific striker!!!
Dont worry it's only one for the U 21s

WOW,brings me straight back when Jimmy Adamson signed Keith Newton from Everton, what a fantastic signing that turned out to be UTC!

That's a cracking signing imo, probably still in contention for the World Cup squad too.
I like how we're doing business this time with a very low timeframe in getting deals done

Scrolling down Twitter posts about Walker signing and found ONE in 464 where the poster actually makes and talks some sense.

In the week Bastards get outbid on a player by Oxford United we sign Kyle Walker. Let that sink in.

Old enough to remember a veteran England full back being a class act at the Turf, one Keith Newton. Hope he has a similar impact

Re: Summer transfer window
Neither would have played much, and Worral brings a lot more experience, and he's a good character in the squad. I like Ekdal, and playing regular abroad would have done him a lot more good than sitting on our bench.blatherwickstattoos wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 6:33 pmEkdal is a better player. Sadly parker sent one out on loan last season and kept the other for back up. Parker knows better than us I suppose though

Re: Kyle walker
Who'd have known that when he played against us at Wembley in 2009, he'd be signing for us 16 years later after winning nearly 100 England caps!

Re: Summer transfer window
We signed him after we got promoted with VK. Then MURIC was dropped who was our Championship winning keeper under VK.alwaysaclaret wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 12:27 pmSo is it not more than likely that most of those add-ons will now have taken effect, given that the first was likely promotion under vk, and then the next to be in the full England squad etc. A further one may have been appearances based in the Premier league, which he may not have reached and could well have actually been the reason he was dropped for muric, just asking. But I'd take a guess we're not far from the £19m.
Likely a add on for an England 1st team call up but he hasn't started for the first team. It's conjecture, but I am pretty certain we haven't paid £19 mill for him.

Re: Kyle walker
He looked like his legs were going massively at City. I know we won't be placing the same demands on him but 2 year deal is a bit of a risk for me. Has he still got the hunger/desire?

Re: Summer transfer window
Statement signing.
We mean business, so happy with this.
He's quick,no actually he's bl00dy quick and will help in recovery and attacking.
I doubt if there is a better right back we could have signed and improves our defence and our attack in one foul swoop.
Well done to everyone who helped achieve this.

Got to agree with this.Newcastleclaret93 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 04, 2025 7:39 pmHe’s definitely not the player he was, but he’s still a fantastic athlete and for our ambitions (finishing 17th), he is probably the best possible right back we could possibly get. I can’t think of anyone even remotely close that we know will perform at that high of a level.

Re: Kyle walker
Well if his legs are going/have gone, he can play centre back, or do an Alexander and go defensive midfield. He's always played with an attacking mindset.

Re: Kyle walker
Better than Phil Bardsley. We signed him in the prem
Re: Kyle walker
Legs going? He played for AC Milan last season and no doubt will be quicker than every player in the current squad.
Will also bring a winners mentality and leadership into a relatively young squad.
An absolute win win signing

Re: Kyle walker
Not sure how 2 years is a risk? If we drop, he plays at a lower level in the Championship.
And if he didn't have the hunger/desire, wouldn't have just fecked off to saudi or a lower league in a different country? Surely signing for us proves that the hunger and desire is exactly what he still has?

Kyle Walker is the reason we didn't win that play-off 2-0 ... his covering back to block Robbie Blake's tap in was incredible !
