Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
Its AFCON 21 Dec to 18 Jan so we might avoid a couple of big hitters (notably Salah and Mbuemo if he goes to Utd)
I'm sure someone could come up with a more definitive list!

Good opening two games, hopefully we can get some early points to stave off any pressure.

Dango Ouattara (Burkina Faso)
Antoine Semenyo (Ghana)
Idrissa Gana Gueye (Senegal)
Simon Adingra (Ivory Coast) - injury doubt
Kaoru Mitoma (Japan) - injury doubt
Andre Onana (Cameroon)
Sofyan Amrabat (Morocco)
Wataru Endo (Japan)
Mohamed Salah (Egypt)
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
This is complete nonsense. They can use as much data as they can possibly find but it's still useless as they don't know how each team will look next season. It's looking at the past not the future so it's not meaningful.Selby Claret wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 9:36 amFourth easiest start according to these boffins...
Weighted due to Sunderland - as the others around us
Spurs will be the best example of this, according to the data it's probably one of the easier fixtures because of last seasons 17th finish. But it doesn't take into account the many mitigating factors, including injuries from last season, new manager, new signings etc.
I actually think there'll be a huge bounce from them at the start of the season. It's a fresh start in the league and they'll be well up for it.

Every chance the home game against Man City will be changed, it's on FA Cup semi-final day.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
Changing my mind a bit and getting more gloomy.
Big rivals are Leeds, Sunderland and Brentford with Wolves the next one. All have nice starts and finishes to the season, whereas we finish with Leeds away in May (would much prefer home), Villa at home who will be fighting for a European spot, Arsenal away who may be going for the league, then Wolves at home which may be too late to save us.
Sod it, I’ll just enjoy it, attend the home games, and get my US Peacock TV subscription fired up for most of the away games.

With the way last season started and the club's need for cash it's almost like a 'free hit' of an entire season to just try and enjoy.CrosspoolClarets wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 9:57 amChanging my mind a bit and getting more gloomy.

If Thomas Frank doesn't get an opening day win against us, he's going to be under a lot of pressure after game 5.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
I'd prefer not to be starting away to a big team with a new manager/head coach due to the excitement that brings to their club and the lack of negativity in the air but I don't think it is as bad as it could have been.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
Does anybody have the link for putting PL fixtures directly into Calendar?
I already have PL fixtures listed twice but not showing yet and previously they have been instant.
Before anybody asks I don’t know how the second one appeared and I don’t know how to delete them.

Tough but of course it is - it's the Premier League!
Whatever happens I don't think SP will be adopting the same approach to it that VK did, so that's something I suppose!

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
I know Parker wasn't at Spurs for long, nor was he a "legend" there like Kompany was, but to have our opening PL fixture to be against Man City when Kmpany was in charge and now Spurs with Parker in charge, feels it's not as randomly selected as we're led to believe.

The fixtures following mid-week European games are:
20-9. Nottm Forest H
4-10. Aston V A
24-1. Spurs H
21-2. Chelsea A
18-4. Nottm Forest A
9-5. Aston V H. This would mean Villa are in CL semi-final.
20-9. Nottm Forest H
4-10. Aston V A
24-1. Spurs H
21-2. Chelsea A
18-4. Nottm Forest A
9-5. Aston V H. This would mean Villa are in CL semi-final.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
To be fair, if it was linked to Parker, we could have had West Ham, Fulham, Bournemouth, Newcastle or Chelsea too so there was always at least a 1 in 4 chance of us getting one of them.ClaretAndJew wrote: ↑Wed Jun 18, 2025 10:34 amI know Parker wasn't at Spurs for long, nor was he a "legend" there like Kompany was, but to have our opening PL fixture to be against Man City when Kmpany was in charge and now Spurs with Parker in charge, feels it's not as randomly selected as we're led to believe.

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
Probably been asked on here before, but is there a particular reason we always play a team twice in December rather than vaguely in the same order as the return fixtures?
Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
Haven't read all the thread but is there a reason we have 3 weeks off end of march beginning of April and no games over Easter?

Re: ARTICLE: Clarets to kick off the new season at Spurs
The negativity from some posters amazes me. Here we are, not a game of the new season played, and some fans writing us off already.
It’s what we strived for all last season and this is the reaction of some.
We all know it isn’t going to be easy but come on! Have some faith in SP and our team and let’s try and enjoy the rollercoaster.

Weird that there are 5 different calendar months where there are only 3 fixtures, August, September, October, March and April. Don't remember that happening before.
